Be a cool book to read about him on that journey. And all the rest
I'd rather have an animated or live action series/mini series that followed Luke's journey right after Return of the Jedi.

With you 100% on that. That would be my top pick for the next animated series above all other options. You’d have loads of room to bring in Ahsoka, Han Leia Ben, even Obi wan and Yoda and even Anakin as force ghosts. It would be brilliant.

It’s the only time in the whole saga he calls him Luke. Gets to me every time too.

I think a lot of fans disappointed with Luke's character in TLJ would appreciate it. Plus, as your mentioned, you could bring in all these other characters and lore.

THey could tie endless amounts of different elements into that series past Luke being like an Indiana Jones exploring temples for artefacts and texts, (that recent book weapon of a Jedi does this really well. Literally hires a treacherous guide to take him to a temple in imperial occupied territory and faces challenges) he could drop into any part of the galaxy/established arcs like the mandos etc. It would rock. Then Have the final season setting up the academy and we get to meet the students (KOR) and see how exactly Snoke was involved.

Serkis was recently saying he’s not allowed say anything about Snoke even now, as they may want to elaborate on his story in time to come. Who knows

Well, doubt I will ever love it. I do however understand what they tried to do.

At least I now finally have the 4K version at home.

The movie was probably like that when you saw it in the cinema.

The Andy Serkis parts in the extras are amazing. Much better than Snoke, and I’m not even talking about story or background. Wish they had used more of Serkis, instead of going full cgi.

I really don’t like or agree with how Rian views the Jedi, which is shown clearly in the Balance Of The Force extra.

I would have agreed but his position is exactly Lucas’ position on the Jedi in the prequels. The point of those movies is to show the fall of the Jedi due to their own complacency and hubris. That’s what the prequels are about. It makes perfect sense Luke after having researched and explored would reach the same conclusion. And that narrative following through from that time to luke at this point also makes complete sense.

I saw the Director and the Jedi again. I think the movie making parts are just ok, not what I’m into. But any part with the actors is great fun. Well made.

One of the few redeeming qualities of the trilogy. I loved how much the Last Jedi referenced the prequels.

One does not make the other right, which Lucas might also agree with, as his only quote on the movie was that it was beautifully made.

Clearly the Jedi failed in the PT, but the OT made up for it. Luke was the new hope, the new Jedi. He learnt from the old ways, and he succeeded. So there is no longer a need to tear down. The Jedi successfully defended the galaxy for more than a thousand years.

Only got the movie left now, after watching all the extras tonight. Saw the first five minutes on both discs. Was a surprisingly big difference between the blu-ray and the 4k. Where the blu-ray is stretched to fit the screen, the 4k has a slight letterbox, but 100% perfect image, larger difference than I am used to when I get both copies included.

He learned ideas of the force and how to harness his own power, but he didnt learn much about the jedi till post OT. Luke learned far more in the years to come then his brief training with Yoda and time spent before ROTJ

That’s probably true, and all he could come up with was destroying the Jedi. Doesn’t make sense in that setting, or a compelling story to tell if you are watching a movie.

Luke’s attitudes about the Jedi have nothing to do with the Jedi. They are almost entirely about his failure with Kylo, and he moves from his personal failure to a larger narrative about the Jedi (failure is baked into the Jedi order) until yoda sets him straight. Luke has a post hoc rationalization, not a philosophy. He abandons it when yoga gives him a way to process his grief and reconcile his personal failure with the values of a Jedi (which, upon tee bracing, motivates him to save the day)
