If Ed asked me what I thought about the song I would give him my honest opinion in a non hostile way. Why, would you just kiss his ass and tell him how great it is even though he could barely play the chords live and BOB shit all over an already lame song?
No, but I think the song is ok. I'd recognize that it means a lot to him and sense I can't write a better song I'd treat him and the song with respect. Certainly, he deserves that because he has written great songs that mean a lot to me and while this one isn't great it still comes from his heart, I understand that and I'm fine with Fd.

Tbf, some people on this forum are able to write much better songs.

For me it is not so much that I think it is a bad song as I think it is an inappropriate song for a PJ album. If Ed came out with another solo album and FD was on it, it might be a nice addition.

There is a sort of sad irony in the fact that people with Whitey's songwriting abilities or self polluted's knack for sonic texturing are posting on a fan site, while the guys who are the subject matter of said site are producing the like of Future Days

Completely. It's a band not in their prime and we hope we can appreciate the stuff in spite of that. I just can't make myself less interested in PJ, but man have I tried.

Does anyone believe that Eddie thinks Future Days is the best song he can write at the moment?

Not in the slightest. I don't think he believes he's even making the best material possible. I think he's making the best material possible at the moment, under certain circumstances. FD's positioning on the album seems to suggest it is what it is.

Absolutely not. But, I do think he is the most inconsistent songwriters in the band. His highs and lows are so much more extreme than any other member.

In fairness we don't know that future days isn't years old. Sounds like something he'd write back in his bad radio days

I agree this is why i don't understand why it's held as a standard for the quality of Ed's writing at the moment.
