I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

You're being generous.BurtReynolds wrote:Is only about as 60% as good as Big Lebowskicutuphalfdead wrote:oh man it's so goodSimple Torture wrote:I've only ever watched like 20% of Kingpin; it'll go on my watch list.cutuphalfdead wrote:As far as bowling movies from the 90s go, Kingpin is better.Simple Torture wrote:I'm not as deep into the Coen filmography as I'd like to be, but TBL has always held a special spot for me. It's so textually rich, it's hilarious from start to finish, and I think I watched it for the first time at just the right time. I think some of their other characters are better written, some of their stories have more of an intimate or epic feel, and they've gotten better performances out of some actors, but I'll never back down from TBL.
you're the absolute worst...goodbyeBurtReynolds wrote:Rank the bros:lennytheweedwhacker wrote:stfu and rank the coenz filmzBurtReynolds wrote:True facts: the Coen bros. best movies are in fact their comedies, and their best movie is by far Big Lebowski

It's a completely ridiculous comparison; The Big Lebowski is head and shoulders above it.
Still not even close to being the best Coens movie though.
I've been meaning to watch this for like a million years now.Simple Torture wrote:Watched Blue Ruin today and highly recommend it. I'm digging that I've come across so many 90 minute movies that I want to watch.
I really liked those two. Thats something ill talk about in my encounter with Jordan. The Argonaut wrote:vinylguy and plat and maybe someone else had a good exchange in tinychat the other day about how insufferable the post-Garden State crop of adult-children indie movies is. And they're right.
But stuff like Blue Ruin and It Follows are the types of indie movies that are doing it right. They're doing unique and interesting things.
