Actually, it worked against Yoda. He got thrown back, but Yoda lost the battle at that point.

It certainly worked better than in the others. Yoda was clearly tired at the end.

Nah. Once the Diad power becomes clear, he no longer wants Rey to kill him.

He wants an unbroken vessel. He thinks that's Rey. Once he regenerates, he realizes he doesn't need Rey. She can die and he doesn't need a new vessel.
