I'm all for some new ideas in sci-fi/fantasy, but using rhythmic dancing to open a portal to another dimension is just stupid and Brit Marling is kinda terrible.

I've only watched like three episodes and so far it's really engaging and fantastic. And Brit is good. But I can't speak to the rest of your post because it doesn't make sense to me yet.
