Have to wonder if Aaron Rogers might have won more titles if they moved on from McCarthy earlier.
I can't imagine it won't be a close game next week.Stardog Champion wrote:I'm hoping you see Hill next week. I worry about Brees rushing back. I'm hoping the Saints keep it close. We'll see what the two teams bring that contest.
But, if I'm honest, there isn't a team in the NFC that scares me against the Chiefs.
That's fair about the NFC. My hopes for the Saints would basically revolve around the kind of ideas that the Giants used to beat the Pats. The defensive line and running backs having a great game. Not impossible given the talent the Saints have at both spots, but it's not enough to make me extremely confident.

The GM Ted Thompson was a problem too. He refused to bring in high end free agent talent for years. Charles Woodson was like the one exception, and the annually maligned defense was top notch with him out there.epilogue wrote:Right.Electromatic wrote:Have to wonder if Aaron Rogers might have won more titles if they moved on from McCarthy earlier.
That dude is so good.
It became easy to pick on McCarthy (and he definitely deserved it), but you're absolutely right about Thompson.spike wrote:The GM Ted Thompson was a problem too. If they match up in February, I'll be hopeful, but I'll also have low expectations. And no shame in losing to Mahomes.epilogue wrote:I can't imagine it won't be a close game next week.Stardog Champion wrote:I'm hoping you see Hill next week. I worry about Brees rushing back. When the schedules dropped, I had the Chiefs finishing at 14-2. The second lose I had down was against The Saints. I won't be surprised if either team wins the game, really. But if they meet again in February, I'm not worried. But, hey, if the Chiefs lose and Brees gets one more ring on the way out the door (if that's the way all of this plays out) I won't be sad about it. Brees is a great player and I'd love to see him get some more hardware.
Good point. I guess philosophically it makes sense because free agents are very risky, but this is the team that got Reggie White too.spike wrote:The GM Ted Thompson was a problem too. They’ve had great o-line play for a few years now, which of course is a huge part of Rodgers’ and the offense’s success. But a few high end defensive signings would’ve been nice over the years.Electromatic wrote:Good point. Maybe it’s partly the new generation of offensive coaches and the scheme also. It’s all kind of built on the Alex Gibbs blocking system, but they seem to do an incredible job getting guys in space.
