which is kinda my problem. It's all the feeling of empowerment, without any actual empowerment. Or no more or less than 3 months ago.
but whatevs. It's a minor thing one way or another. You can always argue that it has some far reaching effect down the line, but then again you could argue BLM and Occupy led directly to Trump. Who can say.

I have grave reservations about any parent who would take their kids to a political march, whatever the cause.
Because you think they are subject to physical danger?
Or because it's forming political opinions on a blank slate of a human?
Or something else?
Could they not think of anything better to do that day?
I find politics, and particularly people who are passionate about politics, very stressful at the best of times. Why on earth would people willingly and enthusiastically expose those anxieties to their kids?
Honestly, I aim to incubate my kids from that stuff for as long as possible.

I had dozens of friends posting updates from around the country yesterday--and many of them had kids with them--and I saw nothing but smiles, hugs, high-fives, laughing. You can argue about the political efficacy of the whole thing, but I saw very little "anxiety."

I'm not sure these anxieties are necessarily well-founded and, regardless, I don't think they're issues young children should be concerned about.
"I know you'd probably prefer to stay home and play but Mum and Dad are taking you to a big march where lots of adults will do a lot of yelling because a bad man is going to hurt the environment - also, the blacks. And LGBT people, like your uncle Gary. Come on, get your coat, we're leaving!"

2. The politicians who are wise enough to recognize that the mass demonstrations are a harbinger of changes to come. Consider when John Kasich says "I am personally against gay marriage, but I recognize that battle has been lost and it's time to move on";
3. The news media who have a responsibility to report on the issues rather than the Tweets and sound bites; and
4. Everyone who participated who was feeling weak and hopeless. All those people are feeling a bit more empowered and engaged today.
Maybe the message is to other women who have been thinking of getting involved (protesting, voting, running for office, etc). My wife didn't do any marching yesterday and has been stewing with guilt all day. Next chance she has to get involved with a political cause, she's definitely going to take it.

It genuinely horrifies me that people would do this to their kids.
This is exactly what I'm talking about; adults, who should know better, enthusiastically imparting their irrational anxieties to their children.

I didn't march yesterday. I think I'm going to buy a black pussy hat though. I don't want a pink one.

Marching isn't for everybody. I wish I had but my dog needed me home to raise him up properly.

I'm guessing his real arms are inside the oversized trench coat, ready to unleash steel rain if shit hits the fan. The trench coat is likely interwoven with an anti-ballistic material to cover up the First Lady with.
