Re: Albums of 2024
I'm really enjoying this Kim Deal album. Some of the songs really sound like Aldous Harding (or maybe Aldous Harding sounds like her?)
Big Ben Beat is a hell of a song

Thats my list and ill add:VinylGuy wrote:Kinda feels this will be my best of 2024
1.Jack White No Name
2.Kim Deal Nobody Loves You More
3.Pearl Jam Dark Matter
4.Billie Eilish Hit Me Hard and Soft
5.Jerry Cantrell I Want Blood
6.The Smile Wall Of Eyes
7.Vince Staples Dark Times
8.Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross Challengers OST
9.Pixies The Night the Zombies Came
10.Kendrick Lamar GNX
I still need to jump into a few new ones i havent listened yet and might appear in this list, specially Jeff Parker's thats coming out next week. The Smile's Cutout also might appear.
Jeff Parker The Way Our Of Easy, wonderful live album really, super tight and yet loose, very chill and cool
The Smile´s Cutouts another fucking great collection of songs from this guys
Queer the new soundtrack of Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross, damn gorgeous really. I love the textures and how evocative it is
Childish Gambino´s both Atavista and Bando Stone
And my main disappointments were:
SK - Little Rope
St Vincent - All Born Screaming
Both albums i like a lot, but they failed to reach more attention form me after their initial two weeks or a litte more released span. Im sure ill go back to them eventually, and the St Vicent songs are awesome live, but i guess i was expecting more maybe. not sure.

I was also surprised Nick Cave´s last one didnt make any list but i need way more time with it, basically because Cave´s music to me is very vibe-y and i need to be in the right kind of mood. Its a very interesting album for sure.

It had plenty of good moments but was not as good overall as I'd hoped.VinylGuy wrote:I was also surprised Nick Cave´s last one didnt make any list but i need way more time with it, basically because Cave´s music to me is very vibe-y and i need to be in the right kind of mood. Re: Albums of 2024
There are still many records I need to listen to from 2024. But overall I think this has been one of the strongest years for music in a long, long time... like decades. Re: Albums of 2024
However, Wall of Eyes being one of the worst albums you heard this year does not spark joy.

Re: Albums of 2024
I posted ages ago about Israeli artist Noga Erez who had a very cool track on the Heart of Stone soundtrack (called 'Quiet').
She's now released her 3rd LP and its pretty damn enjoyable. I have no frame of reference by which to compare her works, but the album is a great listen start to end with very high production values.
Here's "SAD GENERATION, HAPPY PICTURES" from it:
