It just an immensely unpleasant show. I was pretty indifferent about going, but my brother was actually pretty excited, and when we were all driving to the show, I started thinking to myself "Y'know what? Maybe it'll be cool. I mean, once upon a time this dude probably sat around in some shitty apartment and wrote songs on a crappy acoustic guitar like I do all day long. Maybe with all the bells and whistles stripped away, I'll actually look at these songs as being the product of a songwriter I can relate to and have a decent time."

Yeah, not so much. I remember he opened with Run To You, and I was like "This is cool," but then it just fell apart. He was the most smug, arrogant performer I'd ever seen. He'd ask for requests and when people would shout them he'd be like "That's a great song, isn't?" He at one point put down his guitar and started to walk off stage after a fight with the sound guy. Because B.B. King's is mainly a restaurant/bar, the sound guy was on the side of the stage, and rather than turn away from the mic to address his issue, he made it a point to berate him into the microphone for the whole audience to hear, including a "Well then why don't you take my fucking guitar and finish the show? You think all these people would like that?" It was just...embarrassing. Before he did the Three Musketeers song he told some long story about how everyone should try to picture what it was like having three "legends" in the studio working on a song together. It was all just really cringe worthy. I felt legitimately uncomfortable by the end. My brother actually left and just waited outside after the fight with the sound guy if I remember correctly.

Uh... wow. That sounds bad. I can believe it. Hey, I guess I have an attachment to the music as it was important to my dad growing up, but I only ever saw the guy play once, and to me he was just a cool dude in tight jeans. And whenever I write things like that it becomes more and more obvious I was probably never straight.

Ok. I think I get what you're saying. I happen to think there is some excess on it (and just don't find it to be a particularly good song to start with), but I see where you're coming from.
Yeah I am not in the sirens=game changer camp but I think it is a nice song. It grows

that doesn't make someone shallow

While Jill might have been a clothing model years ago, and while she's what some might consider traditionally gorgeous, she's not someone I find super attractive to me personally.
What does she even look like? I've never seen her.
Like the kind of person who would be okay with spending the rest of their life on this sexface

The question surely is what Eddie Vedder thinks Andy Wood would've thought of Sirens.

"Kinda dull" is a good start. If it's not outright horror you'll probably like it with 10 listens.

I watched the video again this morning. Mike's solo really is loud. Like when you see Eric Clapton play at one of those benefit all star jams and he's waaay louder than everyone else.

I feel like it's really close to being great, but the choices they made in how they did it, or at least the sound they put the song in, hamstring it a bit too much.

edit: I've been listening to the live version a fair amount, though. The more sparing feel of it helps.

There is no wrong answer, however you'll never be right.
