Quite honestly the 2nd half of S/T kinda trailed off for me, so now I'm working backwards chronologically....
Strange Mercy: My head was just blown right off by the 1-2-3 punch of Chloe in the PM followed by Cruel and Cheerleader. Wow.

My preliminary assessment is that there is no discernible winner between these two albums, but there is a slight progression in S/T.

Strange Mercy is damn near a perfect record, as far as I'm concerned. And easily my favorite St Vincent album. The first 5 songs is one of the best runs of tunes I can think of on one album.

Huey Newton.
It starts off like a Portishead song and then becomes the visceral mutant devil-baby of Dead Weather and Soundgarden.

Add the title track to that run and I agree.

Sm and st are masterpieces. But st has a pop element that makes it more appealing for the masses.

I like Actor more than Love This Giant and Marry Me. But that's like comparing orgasms. They're all amazing.

I do. But only just. They're both great albums. And it took me a little longer to come around on Actor. It wasn't quite as immediate as Marry Me. But the songs are so dynamic and layered. She grew leaps and bounds as a lyricist on Actor, too. Some fucking brilliant lyrics.

Already on my second hearing of actor and boy this is a really delicate album. I like it more than marry me as a whole; although that album might have a few real gems.

I have Actor and Strange Mercy on my repeat list. Only those two. Even if the first two are that good, she really did an amazing job with SM...everything that was lacking or maybe it was hinted in the first two is here in full form.
