True... Maybe they should've used footage from Walt going apeshit down in the cellar room.@SkitchP wrote:I wanted this to work better than it did.

Perfect lead in with Saul asking "How's he coping?".

Nah, that's for Lydia. I think they set that up when she asked for more "Stevia" at the meeting with Todd.Harry Lime wrote:ricin?spike wrote: just before he kicks the bucket, whether by bullet or cancer.

She is going to want to see this improved product for herself. And when she does, I am really hoping Jesse can get her into a position where he uses her as leverage. Threatening to kill her or whatever. That's the only thing to get Todd flustered. And it would be poetic payback. And she should have been dead long ago.

why would walt bother killing lydia at this point? is he going to attempt to off anyone (besides skylar) who ever had firsthand knowledge of heisenberg, hoping to get away with it all?

is the re-emergence of blue meth the catalyst that sets walt off? He seemed pretty set on the death of Jesse. Is he driven to collect on that, too?

Re: TV: Breaking Bad
the re-emergence of the meth set him off, yes. Not only did Jack steal his money, but they're making his exact product. He either knows Jesse is still alive or either he thinks Todd perfected it, but the latter is unlikely.
He built the empire and he'll burn it to the ground and that's what he intends to do I think. I wish he'd see Jesse as a slave, but in the heat of it all I don't think he will, which will make it even more tragic. But i hope I'm wrong.

Dont say that! I told you, Walt will want to do a secret interview for the Charlie Rose Show to get across his side of the story, only for Charlie to buy into what Walt is saying, and they both take up arms against the Aryans. That would definitely cement Breaking Bad as the best show ever.

He's gone past getting away with it. It's to protect Skylar, since she and Lydia met.

The whole thing is great, but interesting bit from EW with the writer of the episode, Peter Gould:
What was it about Gretchen and Elliott’s interview that really set him off? She talked about the brilliant man being gone, but they also claimed he had nothing to do with their success.
There’s so much that goes on in that moment. There’s a lot of switches being closed, I think, in Walt. There’s emotions about the past, but then there’s also something else that we’re going to follow up on. A lot of that moment is going to be explored, what went on there. I’m trying to say enough without saying too much.
This Walter White-Heisenberg situation feels a lot like Jekyll and Hyde. Was that last scene him officially flipping that switch and breaking bad? Is Walt gone?
That’s such an interesting question. I can tell you the way I saw it: The way I see it is that Heisenberg is gone. He keeps trying to kind of evoke the ghost of Heisenberg, the thrill of feeling powerful, and it’s not there. It’s gone. It died when Hank died. It’s just not there. It died when he saw baby Holly. And then in the end, what is happening in my mind, and obviously we’re leaving it up to the audience to some extent, in my mind, what’s happening is he’s becoming something new. And it’s not Walter White; It’s not Heisenberg; it’s something new. And that’s what I think Dave Porter picked up on when he had that great variation on the Breaking Bad theme at the end. Dave and I both agree he’s sort of, in this episode, he’s becoming what he’s going to become, and we’ll find out what that is in the next episode.

Re: TV: Breaking Bad
Fly is the single greatest episode of television I've ever seen. But everything after Walt talked to his kid (which, I'm sorry, I've really loved the last two episodes despite the shit that's bugged me, but Walt Jr has done everything he can to kill these episodes where they stand) to the credit roll is probably the best single scene ever.
If everything BB did was as brilliant as those last two/three minutes (or whatever it was) this would be the undisputed best show of all time. It's uneven has all hell, but when it hits, Breaking Bad knocks me out.
And Jesse watching Andrea die hit me harder than anything in the previous episode. That was fucking brutal. Yeah, the more I think about it, this episode might have been better than the last one.... maybe....

Nowhere near as good as the previous one. Very good though!

Re: TV: Breaking Bad
I mean, pound for pound, the last one was probably better. At least, the direction and the overall tone and most of the performances were probably better. But it terms of pacing and writing and theme and reveal and punch, I think this one worked harder and was more rewarding. But it's a silly argument. They were both two of the best episodes of the series, I think. And the show needed it. Because I'd been super disappointed with this half of the season, so far.

Do you really think BB is 'uneven as hell' Joey? Save that nonsense for the Homicide: Life on the Streets...

It is a little uneven, but at its best it's pretty great.

Re: TV: Breaking Bad
The short seasons make it really difficult for me to be unsatisfied with the pacing. Even a slower episode has always left me with the feeling it was just setting up something great the next week.
I totally agree on The Fly being pure gold, however.

Re: TV: Breaking Bad
Oh, yes. At it's very worst, I've almost stopped watching it. Except for season one and the first half of season five, I've almost walked away multiple times each year. MAGNETS BITCH! probably would have been the last straw if it hadn't been the final season and I wasn't already pot committed.verb_to_trust wrote:Do you really think BB is 'uneven as hell' Joey? But Jorge's right. It's best is great. And I mean goddamn GREAT. And that greatness does some brutal, heavy lifting, and it overcomes the worst. It's been totally worth it. Breaking Bad is one of the best shows on TV right now. But in the context of the history of television, I'm not sure it's a top 10 show. Maybe it is. It'll depend on how it ends and how some of the other contenders out there end.
Some day I'll revisit the entire series and I imagine I'll like it more the second time around because I'll know what it is and I won't constantly be yearning for it to be different.
