He definitely has a very unique style but I don’t think lack of zip is a problem

I thought last year that he looked noodle armed, but hopefully that was the hip. I think he's been putting more zip on the ball this year.

Yeah a lot of things did not go our way today. Got to think it’s good to get your butt kicked once in a while though...It’s just too bad it has to be against the bills every time

I still have faith in the defense and coach. It’s just that ~20 years after Marino, they still haven’t figured out how to play offense.

For as good of a job as Grier has done collecting picks he's done an equally poor job drafting in the first round.

First round picks last two years:
Tua--Welp
Austin Jackson--Terrible
Noah Igbinoghene--Inactive first two games, terrible when he played last year
Jaylen Waddle--Two drops and a fumble
Jaelen Phillips--Sure seems like the other UM edge rusher Gregory Russeau is miles better but we'll see

Dude you gotta be more patient with young players. Very young team, not yet super bowl bound. A lot of things looked good today, but it didn’t come together and Bills are simply better than us right now. Gotta be happy with the defense and its young players like Brandon Jones and Holland, not to mention the exceptional secondary. Can’t be mad at waddle. He’s a rookie and shows flashes of brilliance. Flores is great. Season is young. See if you have the same things to complain about by the end of the season.

I don't disagree with a lot of this but I think the failure to upgrade the line is indefensible, trading a first round pick for Waddle is going to be indefensible unless he's as good as Tyreke Hill, and I know that's not fair to him but my complaint is about Grier's drafting. A WR at #6 is already a stretch but a WR for #6 and another First is just not smart. Igbinoghene is a bust, I think it would be shocking at this point if he turned out to be anything beyond a special teams contributor seeing as right now he isn't even that. Jackson is bad but he's young enough so maybe he can become competent. It'd be nice to have a line in front of Tua so he could have a chance back there and we could actually judge him. I'm still holding out some hope but this hasn't exactly been the Tua 2.0 I think we were hoping to see this year. Way too early for Phillips obviously, I'm just bitter that Rousseau is from the same university, drafted like 15 spots later and thoroughly outplaying him so far. I'm still waiting to see the first flicker of a sign that there's something there from him.

So yes it's early but 5 firsts in two drafts and we don't have a single sure thing among the group at this point and that's disappointing. I still love Flores and I don't think the season is over but I absolutely think that Grier is better at obtaining draft picks than he's been at using them.

I hear ya. Drafting is hard for every team, though. You're taking a calculated risk with every pick. It's never a sure thing. Seems Grier has gotten unlucky more than anything else with a lot of these guys. You can't say they haven't tried to fix the line. Just gotta hope young guys get it together soon or this may have been a failed rebuild.

It's true, which is why I've generally loved the stockpiling of high picks. The more lottery tickets the better. Hopefully some of these guys start living up to their pick status.

Thankfully, they've been pretty good on 2nd-4th round picks at least.

And even more thankfully, I'm so glad my friend bailed and I didn't go to that game yesterday. I'd be even more insufferable rn.

Yeah, I don't like the idea of going anywhere really, but especially I don't understand paying boat loads of cash to go to a sports game. People paid all that money to sit in traffic for who knows how long before AND after the game, sit next to pungent, burping, farting slobs screaming in your ear, then watch your favorite team get shut out for over three hours. I mean, I hope to visit the stadium one day, just cause I've been a fan for so long, but as for watching games I'd pay more money to be able to sit alone in my living room, luckily this happens to be the way cheaper and more convenient option.
