Man, I just watched that video in the Infinity Wars thread that explains how they are really tying all of the Marvel movies (and tv shows) together leading up to that. Makes me sad to then see how the DC stuff is being mishandled.

I have never felt so completely in opposition to any post.

You don't like how they are tying things together in the Marvel Universe? Explain please.

DC is only one movie in I don't see how you can compare the two.

No ones ever told me good point before I'm not sure what to say.

I don't care that they are tying things together. Generally, I think that kind of "connected universe" stuff between separate films is empty and dumb (Tarantino also does this). It reeks of nerd culture: pedantic focus on trivial, meaningless elements of art. That's what I hate so much about Marvel Studios: they are making hollow, superficial product movies that cater to what fanboys want, which is iconography porn. Comfort food. There's no soul or depth or vision to any of it - merely hired hand directors delivering plot, characters, and settings. Nothing that would ever challenge or engage in any resonant way. I can't imagine a more grossly mishandled cinematic property.

DC seems to be doing exactly the opposite of all this: hiring visionary, distinct filmmakers to make their mark within the brand, bring something different to the table, explore some interesting ideas, do something compelling beyond just pandering to people who like the comics.

I must say, LV makes a good point. (Tho I knew what he was going to say, and I still enjoy a lot of the fanboy hulk p0rn.)

Have you ever just watched a movie for mindless entertainment?

I thought so the first time I saw it, but I was very, very wrong. The second viewing made me fall in love with it. It's a lot more than that.

Honestly no. I reject the entire concept of watching any movie "mindlessly."

If a movie is so awful that I need to shut my brain off to enjoy it then I am 100% of the time going to turn off that movie.

It is a lot more than that. Except the 45 minutes of nothing but destruction. There is literally nothing else going on.

But I don't necessarily think Ruddo meant that by saying "mindless entertainment".

Awful and mindless aren't the same thing, K.
