If the bridge is the best part of your song, you've got a bad song on your hands.
I love the bridge! I can finally get a break from listening to that crap song for a few seconds. Oh no, it's coming back!
I wish we could go back to the bridge, when the tambourine got really loud for some reason and the lyrics were just the same four words over and over again fifteen times

Absolutely atrocious take and one of the worst and stupidest things I've read on this website. I wish you the worst, and fuck youThe Argonaut wrote:Can we just be done with the bridge? What even is a bridge? A little break from the song being good? What is it even a bridge to? The song being good again? We're right back where we started. Re: Post Random Music-Related Thoughts You Have
The bridge is a con, when will you people understand this? The song is buzzing along, it's cool, it's fun, it moves. But it's been going on for two minutes now and maybe people will think it gets repetitive. So we pause the song and put a shitty song in for twenty seconds or so. We pretend it serves some function, and we even give it a utilitarian name: BRIDGE. It's a bridge to the end of the song, another verse, the chorus again.
But wait!
Why not just go to that verse right off. Impossible, you say? No! You've already done it. You went verse chorus verse or verse verse chorus earlier in the song. You didn't need a bridge then, why do you need one now?
It's to bore the audience so when the real song comes back it will seem great by comparison.
It's the same logic as the DJ that slowly, imperceptibly, lowers the volume on a song as it plays so when the new song comes on at full volume, it sounds like the loudest thing the audience has ever heard.
The bridge is a con! You're being tricked!

As the resident guy who likes jam bands, the bridge IS the song. The words are there so we can tell they are playing something different now.
It’s no wonder the most famous jam band is from San Francisco: home of the Golden Gate Bridge - the longest of the bridges.

Is the bridge in a jam band song the 45 second part where the song is listenable?

I love a good bridge. When it's done well, it can be the highlight of a song.
Bad bridges are the worst, though. Some try their hardest to ruin the song. Like this one. The bridge in this song is dumb and annoying and grinds the song to a halt. Good for a laugh, I guess. The rest of the song kicks so much ass that it doesn't matter. I always try to skip that middle part, though.
