You're right, the bass plays three notes over the two chords. But isn't the second chord a minor? If it isn't, it doesn't really matter; I still think it lends a dour feeling to the song to reduce its happy cheesiness. The chord sounds a little depressed.

Is that an explanation, or a summary of Future Days?

The whole song has this weird ominous feeling to it. The arrangement is really good.

Also the vocal melody isn't exactly chipper.

Yes it is. But I'm using it as an example of a song which has cheesy sentimental subject matter but still manages to be interesting and not entirely happy.

I just think PJ is whatever they decide to put on their albums. I might like it, might not, but it's no less PJ for all that.

i like skipping a LOT more than future days. It's a really nice song and Eddie sounds great on it--especially that bittersweet vocalizations at the end when he realizes that this isn't going to last forever and his little girl is going to grow up.

that song caught some shit when it was released but it's really quite good.
