Everyone went on like the force healing was a new thing. We saw obi wan do it on Luke in a new hope.

It’s what happened
Obi wans entire purpose was to look out for him. And
They needed to get out of there

Not once in the 7,953 times I've watched that movie have I ever thought Ben heals him there.

Alright, I went back and watched it in ANH and all 3 uses in TROS. No way is Obi-Wan doing the same thing that Rey and Ben are doing. His touch is fast and without concentration or exertion.

This is fans contorting themselves into hilarious positions to stuff a giant star-shaped peg into a tiny round hole.

Even by "caressing" standards, Obi-Wan was dismissive and distracted.

Surprising, given how sexually repressed he would be.

He was healing him you rubes

And unlocking Luke’s force ability which he had locked with a force seal before he handed baby Luke over to uncle Owen.

It’s all right there!!!

Sure that's fair. But how? What does touching his forehead like that tell him about his current state and well-being? How can he tell if he's okay by doing that?
