I see I was right about the lack of concern for aesthetics

I didn't say I was thrilled, but my biggest issue with Jurassic world was the characters and plot, which, since he wrote the script, are directly tied to him.

I wish they got Steven Spielberg to direct the last one. He should make a star wars movie before he calls it quits

There are problems with every single facet of that movie. It's all his fault.

But if I had to rank the problems I am bothered more by some than others.

I only saw this once and under sub optimal viewing conditions with no desire to see it again. What are your other issues?

i meant specifics and in terms of how it was shot. Those claims don't really mean anything without examples.

Smart dinosaurs and a bad guy who thinks that trained dinosaurs will make nukes and drones obsolete. Then a Trex and a velociraptor basically high five.

Edit: I forgot, a mad scientist has a very, very long monologue that I'm still not sure what it's about.

How much of that thinking is about us not allowing something in to be as good or better than something we've treasured since childhood?

This is why people can't see how great Man of Steel was no it isn't

It's completely lacking in any visual or atmospheric panache. It's similar to how Matt Reeves shot Dawn of the Planet of the Apes: all medium, straight-on shots, oblivious to when the subtext, or hell, even just the emotional rhythm of a sequence calls for something more dramatic, like low shot or a panoramic vista (not that Trevorrow, with his drab, flat photography, would have the eye necessary to make a panoramic vista look good). None of the genuine wonder or carefully paced menace Spielberg poured into his JP movies is present; Trevorrow fills almost every frame with normalized dino imagery from the get-go (raptor heads casually behind Pratt as he talks, holographic dinosaurs in the visitor center) and robs the audience of the pleasurable anticipation this kind of monster movie often provides (that stupid mega-dino doesn't count).

It's also mean-spirited as fuck, and in a way that's completely illogical based on the characterizations it set up (

The British assistant gets torture-killed in a disgustingly sadistic, extended scene while D'Onofrio gets a quick, off-screen death? What?

). Not that the characterizations it set up mean anything or pay off in any way (the older brother's pointless, promptly abandoned obsession with girls).

And the misogyny? Don't get me started. Apparently, the woman who seems to almost single-handedly run the most popular attraction on the planet is apparently just a worthless, detached monster because she...doesn't know her nephews birthdays? That uptight bitch really needs to fulfill her biological obligations and start pumping out babies already.

Obviously, there are many more problems than just those, but you get the picture.

And those circumstances are 1. The Internet, and 2. An over the top action short about time travel and killing nazis, made mostly for the Internet.

God, I forgot that one of the least deserving people in the whole film gets a bizarre, upsettingly extended torture death.
