Gigaton will be amazing (MASSIVE SPECULATION) because PJ listened.
I’ve never really pushed it before and I’m going to stay clandestine about it still ... but I’m personally going to take some credit for this, legitimately. I know someone.

I wouldn’t be mad about a fixer-esque song on this. I’m also for something dark and moody, which we know Jeff is more than capable of writing. Matt too.
I’m all for more orchestral numbers too. Fuck it. This could literally be their last output. They need some new directions.

Some more random speculation from the pit:
Since everything is coming out now, I can say that my source said that the new album has all kinds of influences, but the one that stood out for me was new wave. Looking forward to hearing how. BTW, his source is in the band.
The new wave seems like that means more from Jeff and Matt, no?
to me, the "new wave" thing absolutely points to JA. combine that with the producer having done Heaven/Hell and let's hope Scribing C-Ment Songs has taken the wheel.

also, depending on how you look at and define it, "new wave" can describe the cure. that would be a nice influence.

No Bob is such a huge deal. I love the fact they changed the producer...so out of the blue also...I wonder whats the story there.

Temple of the Dog covered Fascination Street; it’s all falling into place.

great. that fascination street youtube sent me down a rabbit hole and now i'm supremely depressed about chris cornell all over again.
gonna be really interesting to see how they deal with him on the record. he's a monumental figure for all of them.
fuck.

if i had to guess the number one reason the new record took so long it's absolutely b/c of cornell.

watching these 2016 TOTD videos and man cornell is so obviously playing the big brother role to these guys. must have been fucking devastating.
also, not to be a dick, but in my view he's pretty clearly high as a kite on these shows.
fuck.

The TotD show I was at was probably my favorite concert of the decade, or right behind a Sigur Ros show in '13

I'm feeling good about this so far. Feels like there can be sufficient amount of pain to create good art. Obama killed them in 08.
