I dunno, that wtf moment when hearing Who You Are for the first time was pretty awesome, but in a completely different way. Kind of like, “woah, wtf?”... The Fixer was like, “eww, wtf?”
I was 10...

A post punk catastrophe from 1983 is transported to 2020 via the cassette player of a silver Dalorean. The car arrives in 2020 embedded in a aging washed up rock stars concrete fence. The rock star a axe throwing super hero at night quickly dispatches the time traveler with one throw from his favorite Tomahawk he has named Petty. Upon hearing interesting post punk and new wave music coming from the speakers he reaches across the car hits eject. A Memorex cassette tape comes out. " Marty's mix tape" in hand. He plays it for his defacto bff Boom.. Boom who is the elder agrees it is rad. They decide to release it as a proper album and mislead all the other band mates that they came up with songs. They go in the studio bring in the producer they have used to a fault for the last 10 years. The producer states " a friend of mine from high school named Marty use to write songs like that. The producer was fired the album was made the rest is the future.

Well they are hash tagging #climatechange everywhere for this thing so I already know the lyrics/theme will be cringey. Whatever your stance on environmental politics do you really want this? An environmental screed of a PJ album? I doubt it. I am actually kind of intrigued if they go in a spacey/synthy direction musically. The artwork/typography gives off a bit of a “Binaural” vibe to me (which also involved a new producer). I’d be down with something more in that vein.

I’m hoping the album sounds like moving glaciers, cracking ice, desperation, and an earth slowly dying.

Kind of an odd stance. He’s obviously trying to put emphasis on it. Also, everyone is reaching for Jeff’s hand. He’s obviously the leader.

Climate change isn't about environmental politics it's about an existential threat to our planet. But who needs hard hitting, sobering subject matter when you can sing about the stupid bullshit that has been on the last two records, right?

Make it go away indeed.
