while i agree with you, its also surprising all the talents he works with. I mean his resumee is fucking wild

Some music sounds better a bit mushy (Lana, Taylor, etc.) than the amateur hour production of that Vampire song.

i thought it was funny when Lorde took all the blame from Solar Power because people were mad with him.

I remember those same comments with Folklore and NFR as well.

He is very good at a specific style, and that happens to be making everything sound like a shopping mall. Good for him, I'm usually not a fan of the artists he works with anyway so it's not like it encroaches on my listening. Let him produce the next 50 Lorde and Lana Del Rey albums

Olivia Rodrigo cites Swift, Lana, Lorde, and St Vincent as some of her biggest influences. By working with the person who produces those artists she can understand what it’s like to make that style of music and mature her music away from sounding like it was done in her dorm room into what she finds inspiring. That shift in perspective, even if for just one record, is exactly what her music needs right now.

It's a crossroads. She's only now starting to get interesting after a kind of bland debut album. She should not surrender completely to the blandness by working with the great pop leveler. Get weirder, Olivia!

You know what you need to do, Jorge. Procure some edibles for Olivia Rodrigo.

I haven't listened in quiet awhile, but he's got some great stuff. I saw him with Sturgill Simpson live while sick. Not the most pleasant experience so i'd like to see him again.

I really loved Sour. I'm a big OR fan. And this new single is siiiiiiiiiiick. I goddamn love it.

My take on OR is that one of the compelling things about her is her acting ability, which translates to a capacity to inhabit the songs and communicate emotion that can be very thrilling. This song taps into that and expands on the best aspects of Sour without (here comes mr. negative) some of the more prosaic songwriting on that album

I think that's fair. I don't find her songwriting prosaic but otherwise I can totally get what you're saying.

The drums in Wonderwall may well be my fave drum track of all time.

That and Ginger Baker's Sunshine of Your Love.
