So, first of all, Hi everybody!!
I've been a long (really long) time lurker on this board and only now I felt like contributing. This is going to be very long so feel free to skip ahead.
I can't help but feel very apprehensive about the new record and what better place to vent that out than here? We have very little information available (from a reliable source that is) but the hints being circulated do not excite me at all. The only exciting thing is that BO'B is out. Which is like

finally. A change is desperately needed. But everything else considered, I'm not feeling it. The album title, the album art, the single title, the climate change topic, the synth?, jeff being in charge, all do not work for me. I should clarify that climate change is a very important issue and it must be discussed but I don't think PJ is the one for that. I think this could end up being really bad, like really really bad. I know you guys hate that song 'No More', ya well this could be way worse. It's a very heavy topic and i don't expect it to be handled well by a rock band. But then again, they've had a few successful attempts discussing heavy topics. Insignificance comes to mind. But still, I hope this serves for a great surprise on my part. I want to be wowed.
TL;DR
Pearl Jam: Gigton
Me: Eh

Welcome as a poster on this board!
I get a Binaural vibe so far, and that excites me. I don't expect it to sound like that, but perhaps a similar effort from the band, really doing something different, going for an inspired album, with lots of input from each band member. That excites me.

I hope Al Gore makes an appearance on this album.

Thank you!
Well, if it turns out the way you just put it, then I should be hella excited. Binaural is awesome! I guess it could go either way. Maybe I should be a little more optimistic.

Now this level of optimism won't stand around here.

I dunno, that wtf moment when hearing Who You Are for the first time was pretty awesome
WTF singles, ranked by order of WTFness:
Who You Are
Sirens
The Fixer
I would add NAIS. It was a strange single for them as well.

So will this album be a logical extension of Riot Act?

Let's just pretend the midlife crisis albums never happened.

First album singles that made me go WTF from most to least (the list in no way represents how much I like the songs, the reaction can be positive or negative, just not safe or expected, those are at the bottom):
Alive
Who You Are
NAIS
Spin The Black Circle
Mind Your Manners
The Fixer
Given To Fly
Go
World Wide Suicide
I Am Mine

devoid of context, i think gigaton is their worst album title. followed by lightning bolt. but most of their album titles are weak

Is there a great chance CDM isn’t on here?
Can’t believe the track list or an actual song hasn’t leaked.

It's Backspacer, it's always Backspacer when it's a discussion of the worst...

I think Gigaton is a really cool title.
Antarctica: A cubic kilometer of ice weighs approximately one metric gigaton, meaning that the ice sheet weighs 26,500,000 gigatons.

Lightning Bolt has always been a terrible title.

Self-titled could have been cool. But they did it in a weird way. So it's mostly referred to as Avacado or S/T.
