This has the weakest opening of any Pearl Jam album. The first three songs are all meh. Picks up with Light Years though.

Breakerfall/Gods’ Dice/Evacuation is definitely stronger than Backspacer’s start and Lightning Bolt as well.

I always felt like the first 3 could have sounded much better on the album and it would have made for a very different experience

that song has just never done it for me. there are moments i like, but as a whole, it's one i skip often

it's too clunky and calculated for the heart on sleeve sentiment in the chorus. The first verse is overwritten, too. Good bridge though, and I do like the second verse

It’s the last minute that moves the needle for me, so to speak.

Light Years is a classic to me, and one of the seven or eight Binaural songs that should be counted among the band's absolute best. Its a beautiful, powerful song.
