Haha no, I'm not tired of it. I just tend to appreciate brevity on albums.

Haha, I actually don't think they are a good indication. Nothing else on the album sounds like the opener, and it gets progressively dreamier and trippier as it goes. It's a Psychedelic Pop record.
I will give it a proper listen later on. I do love the Lips, but have to confess that I find their collaborative projects with various pop figures to be more or less a waste of time, and I've never found Miley's obscene my-life-is-my-art-project crusade to amount to anything more than a tabloid spectacle -- beneath all the glitz and bullshit, she is a decent singer (she did a Dylan cover a few years back that was beautiful), but I can't recall hearing a single song from her that's been half as exciting as the big production she's making out of it suggests it ought to be. Consider me tentatively intrigued by this.

Uhh...I can't believe "Pablow the Blowfish" is a real song. She probably shouldn't have recorded this...

Well, to be fair, I'm totally into Miley's life-as-art approach. I love what she's doing. And I'm a big fan of her last album.

There may be some great validity to what Miley is doing on a cultural stage, I wouldn't know -- I ultimately find myself confused by anything anyone does that appears the least bit strange, so I'm the wrong guy to assess celebrity antics. That said, her vague missives seem admirable and time-tested -- she is trying to subvert her audience's expectations, she is trying to push them past their thresholds of comfort and in doing so cause them to question the validity of those thresholds, she is trying to confuse, challenge, and all the while entertain like hell -- and while I personally find her a bit on the gross side, the above is a description suitable for many wave-making artists before her, great ones even.
But even though the boundaries get pushed progressively further and the specifics of the act evolve generationally, this concept is as old as time itself, and is not exciting to me on a purely cultural level. If it propels the artist to new musical heights, then it can certainly be a fascinating appendix to the main body of work, but frankly I don't think Miley has the raw talent for this. Musically, she has almost always been much ado about nothing. And for as much as I respect the Lips, I suspect that their ultimate contribution to her career will not be to grow her music, but to add a layer of perceived intellectual merit to whatever hooplah she would have been on at the time with or without them. But again, I'm not the best judge of these things. I will listen and see.

I just dont understand kids these days. Too many costumes, too many antics, too many props, too many gimmicks, too much flash "hey dont listen to the song, just watch me!"

Kinda, but I also think it's probably not very different than it's ever been. Maybe they just have to go further today to get attention, what with the ocean of names and information that overwhelms the public on a daily basis.

You don't have a point, Strat. Other than you feel old and "kids these days" and whatever.

I have a hard time hating Miley. But I also have a very hard time being interested in anything she's doing or making or pooping.

I'd recommend against it friend. As she's a lesbian, that particular activity would probably not be consensual.

In any case, she is probably nuts and would give me an achy breaky heart
