Another really important thing to learn in this regard is the proper way to hold a knife. Most people don't know the correct technique. Along with making sure the blade is sharp and that your non-knife hand is tucked/curled properly so that the tips are under and the knuckles are out, the most important thing to learn/practice is holding the knife properly.

Also wish I could get a pack of 4 hamburger buns. Big Hamburger Bun trying to convince people to have kids.

discovered tonight that the grocery carries 4-pack brioche buns from the local bakery. f'ing delicious.
