David Lynch restores my faith in everything.
The 2017-one. My boss is a huge Twin Peaks fan, but refuses to watch the new one. He says it was never meant to be made, and was only done so against what Lynch had really wanted. Something with contracts and money.durdencommatyler wrote:Which season? Yeah no, don't do that.Anders wrote:He’s probably wrong, but I don’t think I will try to convince him otherwise, he was so passionate when he talked about it a couple of months back.
I feel like anyone with that sentiment doesn’t really respect David LynchAnders wrote:The 2017-one. My boss is a huge Twin Peaks fan, but refuses to watch the new one. I'm imagining how this conversation went.Anders wrote:I heard that David Lynch was forced into making this season. Is that true?
If it makes you feel better, the opposite is actually true. Lynch was ready to walk away because Showtime tried to interfere and refused to give him the budget he needed to achieve his vision.Anders wrote:The 2017-one. Showtime Exec: "David, we'd like you create a series that's more or less an 18-hour movie about interdimensional, timeless evil that folds back onto itself an infinite amount of times like a mobius strip on drugs. Oh, yeah, and Kyle MacLachlan is going to play 3 or 4 different characters."
David Lynch: "Fine, if I have to."

He walked away. Then after more talks Showtime have in and have him the money and totally creative freedom. The Return is pure Lynch. His vision in and out, through and through. No compromises.
What an amazing showparasolmonster wrote:This is a long read, but incredibly interesting. I haven't tried it yet, but if it's true this is the most amazing work of art I have ever seen.https://medium.com/@onantiad/episodes-1 ... 1352ce38e8
On a side note, I picked up the soundtracks today. There is so much good music on there! So far I seem to be drawn to the song by Trouble more than the others. My only complaint was that I was hoping they would put the slowed down Moonlight Sonata and the Woodsman's poem from Part 8 on there.
