I'm really looking forward to hearing this song and this album and then hearing it live. Don't let me down, PJ!
I'm quite looking forward to hearing the edit, then discovering the longer version on the album.

Re: Sirens --

"Come Back" got some "Black" comparisons in the run-up to S/T, yeah? At least as far as it being a wrenching, 5+ minute song about lost love. They're very different, but "Come Back" is pretty excellent, if you ask me. I guess what I'm saying is that I was nervous when the comparison was made in 2006, but it turned out okay. Seven years later, though, I'm not sure it'll work out so well this time.

It sure did get those comparisons and I think it was pretty accurate. I think people described it as what Black would sound like if written today. I love Comeback.

I just listened to that fella playing Sirens and really wish I didn't.

So is this still just rumors, sirens being the next single and it being shortened? or have they been confirmed?

And if there will be a shorter radio edit, it will probably just be played at live speed, that should get it under 4 minutes

A rumor's not a rumor that doesn't die.

'Come Back' and 'Inside Job' were both described as 'like Black', yeah. And I disliked them both. So I don't listen to those comparisons anymore, because they're always wrong. If there's a PJ ballad with guitars, it'll be compared to Black.

'Come Back' is literally the furthest you could get from 'Black' unless you put a kazoo over it.

Yeah, I don't get that comparison, except in the most superficial of ways (they're both mournful ballads).

Which is exactly the point: any comparisons between Sirens and Black are useless until we hear it.

At the most emotional points, Mike's solo is replaced with a kazoo!

Overall the songs are quite different, but the chord progression is the same for much of the verse. Black alternates between E and A, and Come Back is centred around an F to Bb progression.

This thing is going to be totally different to everything we've heard about it.
