I could've sworn you were married to a black woman in that promo video you posted. No need to bother your brother-in-law; I'll just read the review in Jet.
Lol, the Flatbush Gardens video? I think every other person in the video was black, but none of them were associated with joey.
Joey just became way less cooler in my book.
I've never been cool, trag.

So I decided that instead of trying to make the character a bad ass Phasma's schtick should be that in every film she survives some kind of potential horrible death (a la locked in a trash compactor on a planet about to explode) but does nothing else other than boss storm troopers around - like some sort of indestructible middle management figure

Can someone explain to me how all of the books and comics etc fit into all of this? From reading many reviews and spoilers/predictions of TFA and subsequent films there are holes filled in by books and comics. Did the authors of those get permission and guidance by GL or are they purely fan fiction mass produced?

Also, how can JJ and Kasdan reference the books without it being credited or plagiarism?

I'm sure the ownership rights laid out in any contract related to Star Wars branding has been utterly insane, from jump. Disney probably owns all of those ideas, characters, and storylines.

Yeah, I've never really delved into the whole extended universe thing. But now that they've basically wiped the slate clean and all those old books are basically fan fiction, I might try to keep on top of the new extended universe. I'm told the new canon books are hit/miss, though.

Screenrant had an article a few weeks back summarizing what is part of the new canon.
