Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

Really excited to watch The Secret Life of Pets tonight.

Recently saw the new Independence Day. About the biggest piece of crap I have ever set my eyes on. They have the budget, they have Goldblum, Spiner & Pullman, they had a great story set up from the original, and they managed to blow all of it. Only Pullman comes out of it with his head held high. Jessie T. Usher and Liam Hemsworth are both painfully bad and extremely poorly directed. Every line is delivered devoid of any passion. The script is so full of cliches, that you constantly go from one to another.

I went in with an open and positive mind, but left the cinema baffled by what I had seen.

Usher and Hemsworth really did suck. I think, like you said, it's equally their fault and Emmerich's.

It really seemed like Emmerich's heart wasn't in this. It felt phoned in. Which surprised me, because he's usually very good with actors and characters.

The Invitation. What a disappointment. Great first hour full of anxiety-inducing tension; you never quite know where it's going. But it eventually goes down the most conventional road possible and drowns itself in cliches.

Watched a true crime documentary on Netflix called Fear of 13.

I really liked it. Sort of fascinating way to structure this kind of story. Really interesting presentation. I'd recommend it for those into true crime stories.

Interesting view. I agree with the overall cliche of what happen, but the ending itself is brutal. I didnt see that one coming...the film is classy and at the same time weird...the only thing i didnt liked was the acting.

Oh, by the way...the director is on Bret´s podcast this week.

I was really hoping for good story telling that would really dive into his life. one second he's a broke musician, then he kind of records a song, the next he's playing the Opry. One minute he is banging his wife, the next she is divorcing him for his violent outbursts and behavior and extreme alcoholism yet never once even showing these things happen.
