good point. i probably should have closed by saying something more like: ‘NYC didn’t devolve into Chicago, so we should probably look at the track record overall and appreciate that, and consider whether moderate republicans and democrats should just form their own party because they probably have more in common with one another at this point than they do with their respective peripheries’

Buttigieg/Booker is what I’m leaning toward.

Buttigieg

he worked for McKinsey. if there were ever a nihilist multi-national mercenary that stood only for protecting the interests of the wealthy entity that just paid it (even an authoritarian foreign leader!) - it is McKinsey

he invaded a sovereign nation

and yet the woke left melts for him... hmm.... why?

brilliant

and now that the hayseed iowans have given him their stamp of approval, the centrist blitzkrieg cannot be stopped

ALT-MODERATES UNITE!!!!!!!

Not sure where you're getting this from. The "woke left," insofar as that refers to anything that resembles the actual left, does not love Boot-edge-edge. There's a number of breaking points--the entire fact of being a soldier who enlisted in 2006 is a pretty huge one for me, but the "felons don't deserve the right to vote" moment hangs pretty large as well. Obama-nauts love Petey B. because he's basically the exact same figure of center-left neoliberal governance with representation, but Pete does not have any significant base of support from people who identify as "leftists."

let's back up the truck for a second

beep beep beep

it's 2019 and it's time to accept that a gay man can be president

all other arguments cannot proceed because failure to accept the first point is just a non-starter

so, if this conversation is to continue, it's only going to after an awareness timeout

the path to enlightenment begins by being honest with oneself about unconscious bias

once everyone is ready to accept that he is qualified, and it doesn't matter who he expresses his personal affection to and how, then this discussion can continue

The funny thing is Pete isn't really all that qualified. Unless you count being mayor in bum fuck Indiana as the kind of pedigree we need at the helm.

Yeah good post except for the qualified part? Like verb said, not sure mayor of a town in Indiana is qualification for being POTUS

Yet far more qualified than the current dipshit and really isn’t that all we’re asking for at this point?

I'm not. I want someone actually qualified. Just because someone is more qualified than Trump doesn't mean they're qualified. I'm probably more qualified than Trump, but I definitely couldn't handle the job

As was I. The whole point of the post was that he was qualified. Thus the "except for the qualified part".

Funny I remember “he’s not experienced” and “community organizer isn’t a qualification for being president” being lobbed at some other guy not long ago.
