But I agree with you: the writing was mildly terrible whereas the visuals were fucking insane. The ones done by Blur Studio are amazing.

I've tracked down and read most of the short stories they were based on and almost universally the stories were better.

Oh. The three robots one was first. The second one was the space ship crew that warped into that monster's hive thing.

The best one I've seen is probably Sonnie's Edge (the girl who does the monster arena fights.) I liked how their faces are subtly caricatured. Keeps them out of the uncanny valley.

That's the episode I was thinking of when you said terrifying. Yup yup. I mean, it's terrifying and then you think about what you had been watching the main character do prior to that point and then you think about that image and it gets worse and then he goes back in? That's the kind of sci-fi horror that lives up to the name.
