see my assumption was that we would all rely on videos and reviews for games we haven't played (except RDR2 of course). This is disappointing.

I'm taking reviews and "best of" and "greatest" lists that I've looked at into consideration (this is how r2d beat bada, for me). But my own experience is weighted far more heavily and I'm not going out of my way to look up each and every game.

I think there's a bit of the games' reputation and influence in my calculus as well, but if someone picked 2 games that I played and loved, and another team has two games I played that were just ok, it's gonna be hard not to choose the former.
