I understand that this is already an established event in canon, but I'm glad I don't know anything about it.

UUUUUUUUUUUUHHHHHHGGGGGGG!

I fucking can't with Greenwald, anymore. What a myopic, spoiled, disconnected bore he's become.
I am not as hard on Greenwald as others are--I find myself agreeing with him a lot--but I hate this type of approach to nostalgia and art. It's only a half-step above the people who complain that Rian Johnson ruined their childhood because Luke was a dick in The Last Jedi or the absolute CHUDs who express with their full chest that Bella Ramsey was not attractive enough to be cast a child. You can simply say, "It made me feel like a kid again while also tickling the part of my brain that can only appreciate it as a mature person, which The Book of Boba Fett didn't " instead of "it dignifies our memories." It's not that it's pretentious--I'm fine with being pretentious--it's that he's suggesting that people should make art "this way and not that way," which at other times he rails against.

100%, yes.

Well said. That's it, exactly.

You mean the guy who won't listen to/teach Kendrick Lamar because he's too "misogynistic" but then turns around and says this:
daft twat wrote:Okay, finished the first three, and yeah, it’s just weird, innit?

Cassian starts by exuding coolness while talking to the thicc girl who gave him codes and access to the fighter. Then he bumblefucks his way around the docking bay and off the planet, careening into every wall imaginable and somehow taking no damage. The Empire could’ve used a few of those in the pursuit of Luke in the Death Star trench.

Bada mentioned the group in the jungle Cassian ended up with seemed like Stoners, and if you’ve seen Never Have I Ever (and if you haven’t, you fucking should), one of the groups was led by that show’s lead stoner Trent. The whole sequence was pretty dumb and sidelined the main character for 2 episodes. It was like if the Ewoks just kept the Endor team in the net for an hour of Jedi while Teebo and Chief Chirpa argued about dumb shit.

Meanwhile, Empire Gabe from the Office and his partner with the Tatooinely dry pussy have his mother over for a reenactment of every Everybody Loves Raymond episode. I laughed out loud at how he was lying on his bed after he dismissed himself because his mom was being snarky over the galactic fondue. I just wish they would have more explicitly hinted at the inevitable pegging that took place after his mother left.

Mon Mothma wants a number. I’ve got one. 50. She publicly gets bad news 50 times and then literally turns around and immediately puts on her party face a commensurate 50 times. Like a husband, I’m too stupid to even know what she was upset about 49 of the times. She turns down for what, though, and I’d love to have been her plus one back in the boudoir later that night. She got that Barbara Billingsly neck, if you’re old enough to know.

Finally, we have the farm people. Is the girl Cassian’s wife? I genuinely forgot. She is distractingly beautiful. I shudder to think what I would have done if I were alone with her as an imperial lieutenant and her husband was off planet. An attempted Disney plus rape, probably. Loved her spunk and his demise. Brasso not getting to fulfill his dream of tending rabbits and living off the fat of the land was a boner killer, though.
You mean, that Daft Twat?

I was expecting much worse based on everyone's reactions to the first 2-3 episodes. The first two were good, sometimes even great! You all were making it out like the Cassian stuff in the jungle was too long, but each scene was short and necessary in building that little arc. The farming/inspector scenes hit a little close to home right now.

I'm very intrigued by the planned genocide/faux rebellion of the spider planet. That level of planning is rarely a focus in these types of stories.

Hope to watch Episode 3 tonight.

Watched behind the scenes / preview thing.
And protestors at the Gorman massacre and loads of green and orange flags.

They’re literally about to show Bloody Sunday in Derry in Ireland and hitting it right on the nose (British troops opened fire on a civil rights march and killed 14 and wounded many more not one of those troops has ever faced justice or spent a day in court nor have those responsible for authorising it in the British government.)
Gilroy did say he drew from the troubles and British actions in the north of Ireland. The rebellion in star wars always had parallels with the resistance born here IRA and all that. Never as directly though.
Can’t wait to see the next episodes. Might be far too close to home to be enjoyable.

Irish flag is green white and orange just in case you weren’t aware

The Ghorman massacre is 2 BBY, I believe, which means it won't be shown in the next arc (that drops tomorrow) but should be in the third arc (ep 7-9). I can't wait to finally get some concrete details about what actually happens; it's been a little vague in canon.

A prediction about that event:
Spoiler: show
I wonder if Cassian doesn't fire a snipper shot at the Storm Troopers or fully assassinates an Imperial officer, which sparks the Empire opening fire on the civilians. It line's up with Luthen's philosophy and what we saw him pull in season one, and would go a long way toward explaining Cassian's comments in Rogue One about all he has to make amends for. Maybe not, but I think it could be really cool and devastating.

If we’ve learned anything it’s that our theories and expectations always go out the window when it comes to Star Wars and what we actually end up.
But I like your idea a lot. Wonder if you’re on the money?

Totally! I'm not hanging anything on that theory. Just a thought I had that I think could be cool. But I'm just here to enjoy the ride. Excited to see how it all plays out!

Me too.
As I said though. Can’t believe they’re going there. In live action.

The attempted rape thing was too much in many ways, in my opinion. That being said I’m all for showing imperialism and colonial behaviour and how that actually manifests for the normal person and what they have to deal with and hopefully come through.
It was an extremely difficult frightening watch though that sequence. Not sure we have to go there in star wars. But here we are. They have.

Would it make sense to have a separate thread for folks who are deep into the lore to post in so there aren't spoilers in the open here?
