Huell wrote:I want to love this album, it’s nearly 20 years later and there is something I cannot grasp with it. It’s the loudness for sure but the Bob remix didn’t fix that either. It’s disjointed in some way, like WWS and Comeback, the snare is too high and just off by a fraction. It’s like they had to record the drums a certain way for the hard hitting songs but then applied it across the board. Ed’ vocal affectations are all over the place too. Blasted Gigaton from start to finish yesterday and it was so refreshing that it had a vibe that is missing from Avocado.
Are you affiliated with the protein powder company?

I’m affiliated with a minor character from Breaking Bad.
Although I had considered creating an energy drink to recreate the buzz I get from the song Big Wave /s

We heard Unemployable on PJ Radio yesterday and it sounded way different. The display cut off most of the description but it said 2017 after the title. Is this the remix that only on Spotify or something. It sounded GOOD

The different versions of this album have been discussed many times. There's 3 versions. The original (which is not on Spotify), the BOB remix, and then the Spotify version. The Spotify version is not labeled as anything different than the original, but it is, it's probably the best sounding version.

Is there anywhere else to get the Spotify version? I'm on Apple Music. Not sure I've heard it.

Their all time low point for me, this record. Isn’t a single song on it does it.
Was a great tour though. Seen em a bunch of times on it. They’ve never been tighter as musicians and a unit than that tour.

I wouldn't say it's their lowest point at all, but for me it was the first "oh shit".
And of course, it coincided with the beginning of a "return to form" in the public's eyes, and the beginning of a troubling pattern.
Proof that PR hype and abandoning your convictions works miracles when you're starting to decline.

Yes indeed. But I think of it as their "farewell tour". So you'll have that under the circumstances.

Hearing Severed Hand last night was so great. And they nailed it. The crowd seemed to love it as well. More from this album, please.

Me either. I’d love to get it. Bet it would be tough for him to sing nowadays, tho.

WWS was amazing for one single year, and that was 2006. Every year since he struggled with it and it got toba point it sounded downright bad. I'm happy to leave that one kn the shelf.
Severed Hand, Inside Job, and Come Back can stay though!
I'd love Marker and Army Reserve too but he would probably struggle with those too.

My relationship with PJ seemingly began with Avocado. Whatever compelled them to choose the Avocado, it was not at all subtly reflected in my life.
I was also thrilled that Riot Act was not their final album.

They had some good things going for them in this period, but ultimately, the album was a disappointment.
