Was curious what he was up to and found this...I don't think it was posted here.

he's doing live instagram stuff almost daily. Also kind of loses his mind on occasion as well. The guy has some serious mental health issues and obviously addiction. Cancelled? I dont know. But it does not seem that he has any interest in making amends for anything he's done. It snot just women, men are clearly not interested in even working with him anymore. Maybe he's just a total prick and that isn't unique to him in the industry but one thing on top of the next....given2trade wrote:Glad you guys liked the article. After reading I went to his instagram. Looks like last live show was a few weeks ago. I watched some of it last night.
I don't know what to make of this guy. There was a period of my life when he was my favorite artist. Some of his albums are just amazing. After reading this last article, is he really some kind of monster who deserves to be cancelled? I guess I need to re-read the NYT article. But it all seems a bit much.

Ryan Adams has over 1,600,000 monthly listeners on Spotify. For comparison, Soundgarden barely tops 5,000,000. In 11 months, I’m Sorry and I Love You…a song released after he was “cancelled”….has been streamed nearly 400,000 times on YouTube (his Wonderwall cover still gathers about a hundred thousand views a year). Would none of those listeners attend a solo tour?Strat wrote:Cancelled? I dont know. But it does not seem that he has any interest in making amends for anything he's done.
Well, he might have problems pressing/selling records, reissuing his catalogue, and booking gigs. Those are things that are appearing to be hindering his ability as an artist. That might be due to his behavior and partly being cancelled.McParadigm wrote:given2trade wrote:After reading this last article, is he really some kind of monster who deserves to be cancelled? That Instagram account he plays music into has 82,000 followers…more than twice what similar-aged artists like The Mountain Goats and M Ward have. None of those followers would contribute to a Patreon that offers exclusive studio footage or VH1 Storyteller-like reflection performances?
I can’t speak to his personal life. But using the word “cancelled” in terms of his career is silly. Maybe it’s not what it was, but his audience is out there…and Ryan’s problem is Ryan. That’s it.
He’s unwell, and maybe he’s hit rock bottom, but being eloquently unwell is a big part of what made him acclaimed and successful, and that frankly must make it scary to think about truly getting better.

And he’s back.verb_to_trust wrote:I really like several of these new songs from the album Chris by Ryan Adams!
One of the songs uses exactly the same guitar chords as Tightrope from the Ryan Adams album Prisoner. I think Ryan Adams needs some other musicians to collaborate with in order to start making musical albums that sound sharp again! His drums aren't even real!psychobain wrote:sounds like Prisoner, right?
i heard like the first 5 songs, it was good
