remember though, NY is a horrible city when it comes to theater etiquette..couldnt stand going when I lived there
Yeah, that's really the point. I'm not mad at Burt or Platy or anyone here. Ultimately, I don't care if phones are out during previews and whatnot. I'd prefer them put away, but all that matters is the behavior during the feature.
But, yes, doug, you've nailed it. I'm more frustrated and angry with NY audiences and theater going here than anything else. Burt's message tripped the darkness. My reply was mostly a joke. Sort of.

To further incur your wrath, NaiveAndTrue is live-Facebooking about the movie right now.

Dont worry, i was in the back of a theater with 3 other people in it that were far ahead of me. Trailers are a gray area for me.

But seriously, that Mustang car commercial featuring Selena Gomez as a car thief looks hilarious

Just watched Star Trek (2009) with the commentary track. I LOVE that movie.

We watched "this is 40" last night, and while i won't say it was a bad movie, it really wasn't funny, and it was long as shit, like 2 hours and 15 minutes or something

Upstream Color.
Gorgeous. Challenging. Thought provoking. Emotionally absorbent. A brilliant and worthy follow-up to Primer. I loved it. Highly recommend it.

Just saw "this is the end" on a whim and laughed a ton. One of the funnier movies I've seen in a while.

A watched a few more of 2012's "big movies":
Zero Dark Thirty: B+. The first half was not nearly as intense as the second half and the much maligned torture scenes did seem a bit excessive to get the story across when, apparently, no usable information was gleaned from it. The second half and the depiction of the raid itself is top quality action film-making. Chastain was fantastic, better the Jennifer Lawrence in Silver Linings, and probably should have gotten the Best Actress award for this role.
Life of Pi: A. I read this book years and years ago, so it was a pleasant surprise that the movie was this respectful to the source material and was able to capture the book's powerful message about the effect the belief in God has on us. The CGI tiger was so life-like it never took me out of the movie. The effects that were inserted to exploit 3D were distracting once or twice, but otherwise a great movie.

But helpful information was gathered from the torture scenes. The big dispute was that the same information gathered was found elsewhere too, so why include the torture end of it? Because it happened. It was part of the struggle. So document it. It's not the movies fault that talking heads made a big deal over it.

Well, I agree with what you said and had actually originally type something quite similar, but didn't want to derail the thread.

I know we talked about this on the old board, but what do we think of Russell Brand? Who finds him hilarious?

His stand-up is horrible but I loved him taking those people to task. People that were defending those anchors for talking about him in the third person are fucking morons with no manners. One of the single rudest things you can do as a human being.
