Man those things still kill me. I've been staying with them though for the past month and I'm seeing some payoff.durdencommatyler wrote:Did my first ever round of planks yesterday. I hurt.
Thought I'd mention I rode 26 miles in 1 hour 26 minutes. I did the math and got an average speed of 18.1 mph. I was surprised. I had a few good hills I had to climb too.
Less judgement, more curiosity.

13.1 miles in 1:36
Hit the canal after a 10-hour workday. Decided to turn up the mileage a little and do my half marathon route. Ran with no gels and no water. Just kinda vegged out at 7:30 miles. 48 out. 48 back. Wore my compression socks to keep the lactic acid at bay. Nice run.

Holy shit im a phlegm factory and my head hurts. It might be tapering off and might be able to do a little bit of yoga (hell, maybe even help) but that would be a good way to get my body back to - not being a pile of shite. Being sick is the worst. Especially when its 75 and sunny out.

Maybe some hot yoga?!
I picture a 20 minute run. Then a steam shower. Man, oh man that sounds like a slice of heaven right now. Saywatanayo.

1 mile swim in 37 minutes
Swam in the outside pool at the gym. Weird current meant I had a push one way and fought upstream the other. Just tried to keep the same (slow) rhythm the entire time. I squeezed my fat ass into my Speedo. Tri douche bags were out in full force. I fucking hate them.

Re: The Work-Out Thread
Well I got a run in. Not the kind of run I wanted to but a run nonetheless. It consisted of me running up and down the shore of the Eagle River for about 25 minutes looking for dead body of my dog :\. Little fucker was fetching/swimming. Sometimes she decides she would like to not retrieve and just keep swimming around. She was out there for about 5 minutes straight - no big deal - and started heading back. Decided she wasnt done and turned around and got to close to the whitewater. She got sucked in and I didnt see her. Didnt see her for 25 minutes or so. Frantically running down the shore looking for her and had came to the realization my dog was dead and 30 miles down stream. Ran back to my apartment to grab my bike or car or something..... and she comes limping out of my apartment with her tail wagging.
That fucking bitch. No idea when/how/where she got out but she is mostly fine. Good lord.
Then i did some free weights and ab work.

Re: The Work-Out Thread
Got my best balls-on workout in weeks earlier this morning. A full hour on weights followed by 1.67 miles on the treadmill (my first time since being sick, tougher than expected!) and then a few quick upper body hits. Came out with my arms twitching, my legs wobbly and my upper back already a little tight. Felt great though!

1 mile swim in 35 minutes
Another swim in the outdoor pool. Chest was still sore from yesterday's swim, but once I got in the pool, I felt great. Slow, but I didn't really fade like my last 2 swims. It's interesting to go from the fastest person on the treadmill, to being the slowest person in the pool. Still, no one else appeared to be doing even a half-mile.

9.5 miles in 73 minutes
Ran to my sister's house. It was already about 90 degrees by the time I left, so I took it really easy. Hit every traffic light on the way. Another swim tomorrow.

Re: The Work-Out Thread
Yep, I can vouch for the Koss clip ons, they sound pretty fine and sit easy on the ear. The downside to them is they can get annoying if you have to take them off and put them back on often as they take a bit of adjusting to get your earlobe in each time, and make sure you try them on with your sunnies on as they can get in the way of some arms. Otherwise though they are fantastic for their priceturned2black wrote:I have a Garmin 110 that I use on occasion. I use it when mapping a new road route or desert/mountain trails without mile markers (which is generally most of them). I also use it for races. Most of the apps that I have tried either just flat-out don't work or are extremely inaccurate. Garmins are getting pretty freaking cheap now (I think you can get the Garmin 10 for about $120) and are worth every penny.red calzolaio wrote:do any of you who run use any gadgets?
a spiffy watch with gps, heart rate monitor, app on your phone? or do you just get out there and do your business? thinking about trying out some running apps.

Anyone looking for a good pair of running headphones should check out the Koss KSC75s. I have (stupidly) spent $100+ on running headphones and none have sounded better than the KSC75s. These generally will cost you less than $20. They are not in-ear headphones. They clip onto your ears.

1 mile swim in 34 minutes
Hit the outside pool again. Felt strong and smooth. Now that I have a few swims under my belt, I'll start working on my form, which I know is terrible. Run tomorrow.

A friend of mine is trying to talk me into doing a tri. too bad i dont swim well (meaning more than throwing a football around and drinking a beer in the neighbors pool). maybe if i had access to a pool i could start, but generally it intimidates the shit out of me.

Re: The Work-Out Thread
Nothing to be intimidated by, friend. I'm usually the slowest person in the pool. As much as I like running, NOTHING shapes a body like swimming. I've done 4 swims in the past week or so and my chest has gone from junior high to high school.BDB wrote:turned2black wrote:1 mile swim in 34 minutes
