People are, but not me :) I'm just not a fan of how these movies are coming out, and generally liked many of the earlier Marvel ones. Personally, I wish superhero movies and comics would shrivel up into a little niche, but that probably won't happen soon.

I don't feel any particular loyalty to either property. I really liked Burton's Batman films. I was okay with Batman Forever and I hated Batman & Robin. I adore the Nolan trilogy. I think MoS is just terrible. But I didn't hate Superman Lives. It wasn't great but it wasn't as bad as MoS or B&R by any stretch. It's better than Superman III & IV, too. Probably. Green Lantern... well, I still haven't watched the whole thing. I tried twice. But only made it about 15 minutes in before I had to bale.

Marvel has also been a mixed bag. Iron Man is fantastic. The Incredible Hulk is okay. Thor was fine. Captain American was limp and uninteresting. Winter Soldier was badass. Iron Man 3 is great. Avengers is fine.

I don't know. I tend to be more on Stip and Burt's "side" in this whole thing. But that doesn't mean I hate DC or that I think they are unable to make a great series of films or whatever. We'll see what happens in this new punching movie.

Snyder has a distinct visual style, but hasn't he basically just spent all his time adapting comic books to film. What about that makes him visionary?

I think LV overstates his case but I do agree that the Marvel movies look like expensive TV shows and the DC ones (so far) look more cinematic.

I don't know that distinctive and visionary are the same thing.

The matrix and LOTR were visionary in that they changed people's expectations for what movies should look like or what they could accomplish. The MCU was/is visionary for the same reason. Can you say that about Snyder?

I can't and I never would. I don't think he's all that interesting of a director.

For a while there you couldn't watch a doc of the ancient world on the History Channel that wasn't in the 300 style.
