He likes to keep it clean.
Mike Doughty's done a bunch of work with him, as well. Whenever I read him mention Mario's name, that's the first thing that comes to mind.

Been listening to this quite a bit the past few days, and #1 and #3 would be my main criticisms of it. I like when they do mellow, but much of the middle of the album has a samesy-ness to it. Maybe, its just the lulling intros of a lot of these songs?
Probably could've made this an 8-10 song album.
Favorite songs so far:
Black Summer - this is still the clear standout of the album.
Here Ever After
Aquatic Mouth Dance
Poster Child
The Great Apes
Bastards of Light
White Braids & Pillow Chair
One Way Traffic
The Heavy Wing

Oh he's aged, albeit gracefully.
I remember thinking he was quite an attractive man when I saw him in the liners of One Hot Minute. He's got a certain look now, to be sure, but I wouldn't exactly call it a youthful one. Leathery features in the face, and that mustache isn't doing him any favors if he's trying to trick his phone into thinking he's still 26.

Sure, he's fit. But he's getting weathered around the edges. That's all I meant. Normalize being in good shape in your 60s.
