It's being used in a lot of articles on the film. Probably just a cut scene.

Oh ok, my bad. Its niggling at me now though. Disney should do a Lucas, go back into the film and add it in retrospectively
Not every Jedi / Sith knows every Jedi / Sith Force power. I have no problem with that aspect.
Yeah, I have no problem with that for the most part. I just thought that someone as powerful as Vader would've had that in his arsenal.
I've always wondered if his lack of appendages negatively impacted his force abilities. The Force can't quite flow through him as well as it should.

Im going with:
Vader was still reporting to Grand Moff Tarkin at that point, and required to do things his way. While Grand Moff Tarkin believed in the force, having seen Vader in action, he was still a soldier. He had protocols and rules to follow, so he did. When trying to entice an individual to talk, you used the memory droid.

That's a pretty big slip up. Well spotted whoever it was.

Or perhaps Kylo learned it from Snoke who is actually Plageus who would have had a bigger Arsenal of bad force tricks than he revealed to Palpatine and then him to Vader.

He could prevent others from dying but not himself.

He never died though? Or somehow reincarnated himself?
I don't know anything about EU former canon but think I read that somewhere.

It says in the FA novel that he watched Palpatine & Vader down the years of their rule, so I don't think he died.

Perhaps they just expanded what the Force allows for willy-nilly in this movie because they wanted to.

Palatine could transfer his soul into clones of his body. Plageus was dead. I'm not sure if getting killed unexpectedly prevented Palatine from transferring.

Oh right. Cool. So does all that stuff still stand as canon?

It's mind boggling trying to determine what's good to read and be aware of

What the force does has evolved in every single movie (including the OT, where there are new powers in each movie), and in a world where mind control exists mind reading hardly seems like a conceptual leap, and makes perfect sense in the movie

7/10. It was clearly lovingly made and seemed very authentic. If I was into star wars I think I would have loved it.

It's from a photo shoot. It's not a scene from the movie.
