finally listened to the new DJ Shadow track

it’s not that bad, trag

not his best

def not his worst

curious how it sits in the rest of the album

beat is fine

synth is a little cheesy

but could easily fit within The Less You Know The Better or Private Press

if you want to ride ostriches across the himalayan mountainside high on coke, acid, and ecstasy; you probably need this track

I know Beato is not very popular around here, but I really do enjoy the interviews he's done recently with all these big names. Sure he asks stupid questions at times and doesn't necessary always wait long enough for the interviewee to finish answering the question, but even with all of his shortcomings I think these interviews are great and I'm really happy they exist.

I mean I was dissappointed how he didn't ask Matt Cameron almost anything about Pearl Jam or how, when he interviewed Krist, Kim and Jack he barely asked anything from Jack, but at the same time I just loved watching their interaction and hearing their stories. Same thing with Butch, I loved hearing his stories about his time with Nirvana.

I don't necessary share all his views about music and I don't really watch any other videos of his besides the interviews, but I've really enjoyed the ones I've seen. I just finished the Daniel Lanois interview, and that man is just a wonderful, sweet guy, and I just love watching two of them talk about his past, the gear he used/uses and the albums he's done.

The Billy Corgan interview was awesome until he tried to claim responsibility for the guitar sound on Nevermind.

What the hell, guy?

Beato has done some interesting interviews. My only beef with him is why is he this popular dude? He’s like the Kardashians. He’s famous because he’s famous. I’ve looked him up and haven’t heard of a damn thing he’s done but he seems to be regarded as some sort of expert on everything musical? But why?

L take. He's a proficient guitarist and people enjoy his breakdowns of popular music.

The Kardashians are oxygen thieves.

Yeah, I would not call Beato famous.

I personally enjoy his ear for music, which is quite sharp. The breakdowns are often enjoyable, glad he got away from the ## best type song lists but dude's got bills to pay. His cred speaks to the interviews he gets, he's not a bum.

Also, the Kardashians are indeed oxygen thieves.

I have no beef with Beato as an interviewer. I just don't like some of his Boomery takes on music, and I think his song breakdown videos are kind of boring

I get the sense he grew a profile from his YouTube channel where he essentially played the character of a 'top producer', rather than being a successful producer who started a YouTube channel (which I'm sure is how he would prefer to be seen).

Agreed. And he's a little too douchey about his talents. Perhaps that is my own insecurities being threatened but his guitar lessons are annoying as hell. "hey guitarists, bored with the same leads? play this super obnoxious difficult douchey sweep over a Cm4Sus7 do do da da".

But, he gets great interviews now and im here for them.

Didn't he produce like ...shinedown or something?

"he has produced for and worked with bands such as Needtobreathe, Parmalee, and Shinedown.[3] He is now known for his YouTube channel, Everything Music, on which he covers different aspects of rock, jazz, and popular music, and he interviews well-known musicians and producers."

I did not like The Less You Know. But I loved The Mountain Will Fall.
The Less You Know does not flow well, and has some odd ducks on it, but it has grown on me over time such that it is my 2nd fave shadow album

The Mountain Will Fall has some haymakers though ... this track crushes it, esp after the 1-minute mark

I never thought Beato was some famous producer. I got the impression that he was a guy who apparently was able to make a living by teaching, playing and producing music. He had obviously studied music, knew a lot about theory and gear and masters his instrument. What made him famous was his videos which people seem to like.

He must be some kind of something. There’s a signature model of the Les Paul named after him.
