are they scrapping the plan completely to go after the outbreaks, or just redirecting some doses towards the latter? gotta stay nimble against this thing.surfndestroy wrote:I can understand and appreciate changes when based on new information, but outbreaks were happening when they drew up the plan they announced last week.spike wrote:this has been the case worldwide for a year now. nothing new.surfndestroy wrote:it just makes them look like they're making it up as they go

I got an appointment for Monday with the J&J vaccine. The online system is a joke.
Everything's perfectly all right now. We're fine. We're all fine here, now, thank you. How are you?

They added going after outbreaks yesterday after releasing a complete plan last week that did not include going after outbreaks.spike wrote:are they scrapping the plan completely to go after the outbreaks, or just redirecting some doses towards the latter? gotta stay nimble against this thing.surfndestroy wrote:I can understand and appreciate changes when based on new information, but outbreaks were happening when they drew up the plan they announced last week.spike wrote:this has been the case worldwide for a year now. nothing new.surfndestroy wrote:it just makes them look like they're making it up as they go
Did they not realize outbreaks happen with Covid when they drew up the complete plan they released last week?

he should only be comparing the rate of infection among those who said they wear masks for that to actually represent anything useful.verb_to_trust wrote:https://twitter.com/wesbury/status/1367881664739819521?s=19

Re: Anybody want a Corona?
On the whole "masks don't work thing"...
I think they do, but there are various factors on how well they work. Durability of the mask, proper usage of the mask, etc.
Several news reports have stated we've seen historic lows of the seasonal influenza, probably in large part to social distancing, and masks.
Looking at a few RO (R-naught) numbers floating around, it appears that seasonal influenza has a lower R0 than COVID-19. So if our numbers are lower for a lower R0 virus because of the protections we put in place, then we can probably assume that our COVID numbers are lower by wearing the masks and social distancing.
So we can probably also assume if we didn't have the protections in place, the COVID deaths would be much higher. People complain of not seeing results of wearing the masks. Maybe we are seeing the results of wearing a mask, and it would have been a lot worse if the protections weren't in place.

It's right there in the tweet that mask compliance is and has been very high. Good article on vaccine efficacy that can help with the mask debate:

Re: Anybody want a Corona?
My state did the nursing homes, health care workers & very old people first (75+). Then went to a strictly aged based system - 65-74, 55-64, 45-54, 35-44, then wide open. I'm 42, I have to wait until April 12. I think May 3 it opens to everyone. And they allowed all teachers to be part of the 55-64 group. Over all it's working pretty well.

80% of the population wearing masks still means around 66 million people are running around without them. that's a massive number that could easily sway the daily positives between 50k and 300k over several months.verb_to_trust wrote:It's right there in the tweet that mask compliance is and has been very high. Remember when Redfield said a mask was better than a vaccine?
