I believe the explanation was that those ships with that fire power are the only things capable of bringing down dreadnaughts.

That attack was only ever used once before in battle and was banned by the republic centuries before. It’s war. Almost like some lunatics flying planes into buildings never happened before. That’s not allowed. Oh look. They did it.
I didn't know it was used before. When was that? I also didn't realize anyone was ever abiding any laws of war.

I think the comparison to airplanes crashing into buildings is bad... If you can destroy the deathstar but breaking law in the process.. I'd say you should do it

You don't think a few X-Wings at lightspeed could destroy some shit? I do.

Also, why does every single little detail like this need to be explained and airtight? Most of the answers here can also be found by connecting dots and reading between the liens. This make a bad movie does not

Well, whoever designed them is stupid. Cause they're slow as shit and useless in battle.

Their use is they can carry a shit ton of bombs, as evidenced by one taking down a dreadnaught.

Its her sacrifice. She gives her own life. Do you think a bunch of resistance fighters would gladly sign up to hyper-speed their ships into star destroyers and continually give their own life? They were quite successful over the years of fighting without doing such a thing.

Holdo tried to save her people and waste as much time as possible before giving the ultimate sacrifice and utilizing her massive ship to take down the first order so everyone could escape safely.

How are they useless in battle when they ultimately did their job and took down a dreadnaught?

Pretty sure they can come up with auto-pilot.

I like what they did with Luke in this movie. It makes a lot of sense to have him recluse and being very angry and depressed about what happened.
The only thing i dont like is Rian´s choice of killing him at the end.

And after centuries of light speed technology, I would imagine they would have been able to compress it into a fireable ship destroying weapon, considering the mechanics of how light speed tech apparently works now. Any object, no matter how small, would pack quite the wallop if impacting something at the speed of light. Doesn't have to be a giant ass ship, nor would it need to be manned.

AS Has already been explained, such actions were banned. So that tech would never be developed. Palpatine didn’t want to destroy everything. He wanted to take it over and the empire as a result, strip it for resources. First order the same.

And as far as the story goes, the audience might have actually given a shit about the sacrifice if it were a character anybody gave a shit about.... how about Ackbar? And what if Ackbar didn't do lightspeed but simply crashed his ship into their ship? That could've been much better and I just winged it.

Everything about Rose and Purple-Hair are the worst aspects of this movie, I think. ... Which is pretty bad.. considering some of the other sins committed.

Why would I read that? I watched the movie a few times... Either argue against my points or don't. I'm not going to search in all that for arguments against mine.

I do agree that everything that happen with Rose, Finn, Poe and Laura Dern is pretty bad.
