Why do male dominated music genres become neutered over time? We see it with rock, country and rap. It starts out as "being a rockstar/cowboy/gangsta is awesome!", but then turns on itself and becomes self critical and self loathing, then ends up pacified and afraid of offending anyone, and finally fades into irrelevance. It is what it is.

All I know is that in the last few years, the chances of me liking music that is new to me go way up if the singer is female. I think The Weather Station broke me.
