Not asinine, legitimate. That's why they're responding. The sins of this movie are indefensible, no matter how hard you try. It's bad. Either argue against the evidence or let it stand. Ad hominem attacks do not work. They don't successfully attack the points being made. I thought you'd have learned this by now.

We've been doing that for you the last few pages but your willful ignorance is startling. You dont want to hear the answers. You are trolling. GOOD DAY SIR

Aren’t there rules against trolling?

Need an rm holiday tree? I know a guy likes throwing them out.

He hates last Jedi too tho so you’re probably safe. God bless.

Incorrect. Most of the points I have made are from other sources. I've researched them and they are good points. One or two of your arguments are good and I've accepted them... the rest still stand. If you guys have no evidence and just choose to say it's a good movie, I pity you. You need to rethink your perspective.

Proving how a movie is garbage is not trolling just because you love it. Open your eyes.

I don't have anything better to do. I'm dissecting the movie, looking for answers to my questions. Moving on...

They should've used Y-Wings, don't you think? Y-Wings are perfectly capable of destroying Star Destroyers. Also, Dreadnaughts don't even have shields... which is weird.

You can’t pass a bomb or ship for that matter, through a shield. Again if you watched Star Wars you’d see this. The Y wing was already antiquated tech in return of the Jedi. They needed constant repair and attention.

Next?
Well, Y-Wings seem much smarter than the new bombers, don't you think? ... They seem to be designed to have to drop the bombs from close proximity above their target, getting blown up in the process.. kamikaze style.. also they move like snails and don't have shields themselves.. they can turn the shield off before dropping the bombs

So the imperial navy will turn off their shields to allow the resistance to drop bombs.

You really are Fucking retarded but your troll game is A1 I’ll give you that.
Wow, the 'r' word. I'm not trolling. You didn't answer my question. The Y-Wings make more sense. They could even actually destroy shields, if the dreadnaughts even had any. The new resistance bombers are sitting ducks and apparently don't even have shields. I was saying that they could have shields, then turn them off when they had to drop their bombs, cause you said shields prevent the dropping of bombs/releasing of tie-fighters from enemy craft... as if they couldn't turn them off/on...
I thought the bombers were pretty cool though.

Not sure if this was brought up yet.. so...

When Rose releases the creature, thinking they're about to die.. she says, "now it is worth it".. responding to Finn saying it was worth it cause at least they trashed that casino town a little..

Did Rose consider the creature would soon be captured and placed back into captivity? How would the animal survive in the wild, considering it was raised in captivity? Why didn't Rose at least attempt to save some human children?

What kind of lessons is this movie trying to teach people? Release animals if you feel bad for them being in captivity?

It doesn't make sense.

It still surprises me how strongly some on RM feel about the movie. Saying something bad about it is like insulting them personally. And that’s a movie where two out of three main plots are really poor, and the third is up for debate.

Many of the arguments against why it is a bad movie dont really hold water though. Not all. But many. They are easily explained away. Nobody here is personally offended you dont like the movie. To sit here and continually bash away about how it is objectively bad is just...well...asinine. Subjectively? sure.

Any mediocre or downright poorly written content has plenty of room for its audience to become its author, making up for gaps and mistakes in the plot.
When what's in your head is the only thing from preventing the story from falling apart entirely, you might be a little bit brainwashed.

Yet your being held hostage by your demand that Luke be a superhero and can’t have changed. In 30 years.

Who’s the brainwashed idiot again?

Haha I never said I wanted Luke to be a superhero. I said if his character is changed that much, we need a reasonable explanation.

It is a thread about the movie on a forum made for discussion. Surely both positive and negative views should be treated equally.

tree_ can have all the gripes he wants with the movie and it doesn't mean he's trolling or being disingenuous. It's when he throws out idiotic phrases like "this movie is objectively bad" that he starts driving me up the wall.

Nobody is doing that Anders. This guy is playing a game trolling and he hasnt even researched even the bare facts behind his bullshit points. I’ve repeatedly enlightened him. He ignores the response and continues with more bullshit.l

True Star Wars fans are easily triggered I will say that.

But bald stupidity and idiotic comments like his are to be pointed out and laughed at.

He hasn’t even seen this movie. He’s just repeating squawk points from the YouTube videos he posted. I’d bet my house on it.

I disagree with your last sentence but the rest of it is understandable when you look at the context of this "debate" as a whole across the internet and the way many people have tried, with extreme prejudice, to hurt people who like the movie. It can feel like a personal attack because so much of it has been personal attacks.

However, that's not what's happening here today. What's happening here today is totally different and it's pretty obvious. Clearly, it brings some people joy but I'll never understand it. To me, it's always been the most insufferable part of the internet. It's just been exacerbated so much over the last year or two. I'm pretty tired of it.

Most of us are willing and interested in having a real conversation about the movie, even with those who don't love it, or even don't like it at all. It's exhausting having to re-explain this over and over again.

Haha I never said I wanted Luke to be a superhero. I said if his character is changed that much, we need a reasonable explanation.

Again. The explanation is in the movie. Three different times. And then an explanation from Luke to Rey about why it happened how it happened and how shit he felt for letting Leia and han and Ben down.

The explanation is in the movie

The explanation is in the movie
