For years I thought An Ending (Ascent) by Brian Eno and Takk… by Sigur Ros were the same song. Now listening to them back to back it’s pretty clear that one sounds much better than the other.

Allison Russell was on Fresh Air today and was very intriguing. She played some tunes and they played some album cuts and I really enjoyed her.

Full album isn't that good, fellas. I'm sorry. The singles rule. One or two others were solid. Ultimately it sounds like a record label trying to cover as many trending-or-possible bases as possible.

Still, "Frozen" absolutely slaps.

It's so obvious that Blink is a business first and foremost. "One More Time" is just a shitty "Miss You", with a nostlagia-bait video.

It sucks that Mark has been battling cancer etc., but this reunion all seems very performative.

Seeing a lot of tweets about the 30th anniversary of Gentlemen by The Afghan Whigs. What a fucking album that was. Must have listened to it a 1000x.

What are some albums that you love from production/mixing perspective? And if you could decide, which of those would be the album that the new PJ album would sound like? I started to think about this after listening to the latest Iggy Pop album which sounds to my ears really over produced. I mean I don't understand anything about production/mixing stuff, but I'd be interested to hear your thoughts.

But I have been listening a lot from music from the 70s and damn those sounds…Emotional Rescue from The Rolling Stones..obsessed with that sound.

Yeah, that album sounds great to me. Drums and bass front and centre. Just muddy enough to suit the music perfectly.
