I thought we all agreed that the album does suck. Then Stip will make us think a few song aren't that bad, and maybe one of them track 2 or 6 are almost 4 star songs. Then we will realize after sometime they suck two. We will are accept that all we really like about Pearl Jam is what they once were. Sadly I know there won't be as high as the good old Backspacer days. At least there is Walk The Moon.

I'm not even a fan of who they used to be at this point in my life. I've outgrown them. It's just that I have so much knowledge about and history with this stupid band I'm interested in what they do. The next album might actually show some growth and be interesting. I hope so. If not, shrug. I've lost nothing.

it only falls apart if you make the assumption the title came before the lyrics. assuming it's the other way around i find that phrase fun!

In many ways, "Mind Your Manners" is like a Bad Religion song if Greg? Graffin was about 60% stupider

It's like a high school reunion that doesn't require you to go anywhere.

I kind of feel the same way about outgrowing them. But then I find myself turning into the twenty-something who obsessed over them when a new album is announced, or I see someone wearing a shirt, or playing their music.

I think someone once said it on here - maybe twice - but it’s stupid how much I love this band.

Since I quite liked the last two albums, I think my fandom would benefit more from an album RM really loved than one that I did. I'm ready to take one for the team.

But with any band with this kind of longevity I am just happy for new music that produces a few songs that I can add into my regular rotation, and the fact that new music makes me want to go back and listen to the old stuff. After last year's march madness I've barely touched pearl jam. It's nice to have a reason to go back, and to want to go back.

This is what I'm enjoying - I haven't really dipped into PJ for years with any sort of depth, but now I'm deep in all the old stuff.

said it before and say it again - new album cycle pearl jam is the best. even if the resulting album might be disappointing, this whole process is fun. it can be difficult to find things you really like so i'm just enjoying all this nonsense.

Music is still very much an important part of my life. Not something i did in my youth. I still dig for new music and find myself obsessing over it. Pearl jam is in a different class for me. one which i fully admit i can't honor subjectively. i wont even try anymore.

yea, the last two albums are clearly their worst but its so ingrained into my personality and life and some of my fondest memories (even recent) are seeing them in concert and seeing old friends and meeting new faces.

Im hoping that a new Pearl Jam album can hit me as emotionally hard as the last two War on Drugs Records.

I still have emotional reactions to their older albums...for different reasons....I can still put on Binaural and feel just as invigorated as i was when i was listening to it on tour with them.

Thinking about this the other day, when Riot came out, i was a freshman in college, and i was so disappointed in that album. A lot of that had to do of my age. I wanted a loud/fast/aggressive album, not what i got despite the album title. If they put out a Riot Act right now, as if it never existed before, I'd be obsessed with it. The past 3 albums seemed like the band (eddie) was fighting to get that youthful vigor back, while i (getting older) wanted something more age appropriate/ interesting, something i can go back to and discover new things i didn't originally find.

I HOPE, me and the band are finally on the same wave.
