You mean like how it's not working in Israel, Japan, Canada and Germany?
None of those countries are socialist. Canada has freer markets than the U.S. and the other countries are all about as market-oriented as the U.S. The difference is that the ones you mention have higher taxes and much more generous social welfare programs than the U.S. The same goes for the Scandinavian countries, which did go through a period of time being much closer to socialism (which didn't go particularly well) than they are now. When most people say 'socialism' these days they usually don't mean actual socialism, they mean a market economy with government programs to reduce inequality.

I don't want anyone who is "qualified" to be president.

Came to post this. But when Bernie says socialism, he means big S socialism, not capitalism with national healthcare. This is a crucial distinction and it boggles my mind that Warren is foot stomping it as the differentiator between them.

Exactly! That is all Bernie Sanders is advocating for, but people want to pretend like he wants gulags. The "socialist" (universal health care) example that gets me the most upset is Israel. Conservatives, especially evangelical conservatives think Israel can do no wrong, but don't want to hear about their social programs.

Canada is a Constitutional Monarchy and accepts that a gay man is qualified to be president and as a result can continue this discussion

btw - great point above on the delineations between Sanders and Warren and the appeal of Warren’s hate-speak in lieu of workable proposals to address real poverty

now that Deval Patrick is entering the race tho this whole thread is moot bc he will win it all

unless people become confused as to why his last name is a first name and disqualify him on that basis

but if he addresses it early he might still have a chance

As was I. The whole point of the post was that he was qualified. Thus the "except for the qualified part".
I'm gonna be honest I didn't read your post.

Fair assessment but he won two terms pretty handily, even with a do-nothing Congress that tried to derail him at every turn.

He was handed the U.S. economy on its death bed and with the help of Ben Bernanke saved western civilization

I know you can't really believe that but this is a funny schtick, keep it up.

OK - so a black man walks into the oval office and says 'hey, i am here to be president' and a few million automobile workers reply back 'SAVE US GOD DAMMIT WE'RE GOING UNDER AND WE'RE ALL FUCKED' and the man says 'OK no problem I will save your industry' and then he did

Image

then he walks into another room and 300 million Americans who will be subject to martial law if ATMs stop dispensing money say 'SAVE US GOD DAMMIT WE'RE GOING UNDER AND WE'RE ALL FUCKED' and the man says 'OK I will work with congress and the Fed and save the modern economic system from collapse' and then he did

Image

and then a gameshow host became president and appeared to violate many laws and Seth Abramson hyped up every day for 3 years that today was the day he was finally cornered by the legal system but instead nothing happened but Seth got to sell a bunch of books through a billionaire's website and then buy a certified pre-owned Accord and it's basically like having a new car cause it was only leased before to one owner and was garage kept and barely driven and it's got a 6-CD changer so we can listen to some sweeeeeet tunes while we spark this doob and angst about how mediocre obama was and how GREAT Seth is
and then we did
