It’s all leading up to BY being handed over to Luke.
Count on it.
Doubt me? Hamill hasn’t even tweeted once about the show. And he’s been getting asked.
I mean, why? how? to what purpose?
Why not? Who else can teach it?
Well its just an interesting time frame in that this is the first live action or cartoon that bridges the gap from ROTJ and Force Awakens.
BY does not exist in the new trilogy so really what might the point be in all of that?
Im excited to find out where this goes. Do not get me wrong!
We don’t know he doesn’t exist. We just haven’t seen him.
However...

I got so sad when Mando first dropped BY off.

The only thing that bothers me is the whole helmet thing. Not removing their helmets isn't a "Mandalorian Way". We saw plenty of them without their helmets on in Clone Wars and Rebels.

- Spoiler: show
- No, like all of Mandalore. Like it might become more about their civilization and rebuilding it after the purge. So it becomes less about a bounty hunter and more about that. And iirc, Joey was never interested in Mandalore stuff.
- Spoiler: show
- You actually have this kind of backwards. I love Mandalorian culture/lore/history and I'm less interested in bounty hunter stuff. Needless to say... this episode was pretty incredible.

Pretty sure that within the year I will associate that armor style with this character more than I do Boba Fett.

Sorry friend. I may have gotten your opinion confused with dime's. He just mentioned how he never liked Mandalorian stories until now. Glad you liked it.

This was a great episode. Outside of some terribly video-gamey dialogue it was almost perfect.
Easily the strongest of the series so far. That final shootout... please and thank you! That is indeed the way.

Yeah that big Mandalorian guy that was calling the main guy a pussy was really bad at delivering his lines. It was only like two sentences but they were bad

Was that Favreau doing the voice? It really sounded like him to me.

The level of actual violence on this show is pretty shocking to me. But it was really cool to finally see people get disintegrated. That's probably my favorite "reference" so far.

Also, we knew from promo material & trailers that he was going to get a new suit of armor. But I'm surprised it happened this early.

My problem with this is that they came in to rescue him at the last second, after getting all heavy about their code and rules and whatnot back in the smelting room. Why the about-face? Would have been cooler if they were attacking Mando too, for abandoning the code.
Some other things that bothered me:
It might seem minor, but I hate how Mando walked into the smelting room and Mando Queen was just sitting there stoic. I hate when movies pull that shit. Immediately reminded me of Crystal Skull, when the guys dropped out of the cave walls. Had they just been sitting there for years, waiting for someone to try to infiltrate their cave? This scene with Mando Queen felt the same.
The speeder truck looked shitty, as did some of the action choreography. And Carl Weathers overplayed his hand here; he's a pretty bad actor, I think. Also it looks like he has more teeth than a normal person.
bune wrote:since he was looking at it from the perspective of a grown adult, he had expectations that were not met. He readjusted those expectations for a children's show (what Star Wars is all about!®) and it's much better.
I don't want this to be the case.
Overall a big drop in quality from the last two. Some plot holes, some low-budget vibes, some flat-out bad acting (the BY doctor was also pretty awful). I'm all for fun and hokey, but there's a line.
To me, this was the first ep so far that felt really lived in and tactile. It was more than just action figure fantasies and a string of wink-wink references. Almost all of the "did you catch that" things here were purposeful. Though, maybe some of that is just me getting used to that aspect of the show, to be fair.
But given our aesthetic differences it makes sense to me that this is your least favorite episode. Sorry it didn't deliver for you.
