I still think Dance of the Clairvoyants is great.Strat wrote:You're breaking my heart.Birds in Hell wrote:I voted 2 stars but on reflection downgraded to 1.
I’m not writing off the album by any means and I’m not closed to the idea that this song will make more sense (or at least be more bearable) when heard in context.

Prepare to have your mind blown by THIS take: "Getaway", a bad song, is better than "Superblood Wolfmoon", a terrible songMcParadigm wrote: It boggles the mind to think that there are people who consider Getaway a good song, but this track a problem.

Do you mean terrible in the canon of Pearl Jam or terrible in general?

I think I like what the drummer is doing here better.

I don't really judge Pearl Jam by a different standard; my favorite Pearl Jam songs are among my favorite songs in general, and the Pearl Jam songs I dislike I also dislike in generalJuvenal wrote:Do you mean terrible in the canon of Pearl Jam or terrible in general?

Fair enough - I just don’t see how this song can be “terrible”.theplatypus wrote:I don't really judge Pearl Jam by a different standard; my favorite Pearl Jam songs are among my favorite songs in general, and the Pearl Jam songs I dislike I also dislike in generalJuvenal wrote:Do you mean terrible in the canon of Pearl Jam or terrible in general?

Re: Superblood Wolfmoon
My guess is that this is the most basic rock tune on the album. It's there to comfort the simple fans. I actually liked it more than any other generic rocker I have heard from them on the last few albums. And yupp, I was guessing this was track 2... It falls right in the generic rocker position on a rock album. I'm not that worried.

I can't get over how the prediction cover had a better riff...by just taking the riff Pearl Jam already used at the end and putting it through the whole song. I wish they had actually done that <_<

I think I like what the drummer is doing here better.
More than that though, I like that he keeps the hi-hat tighter during the intro; the smashed open hats that Matt plays set up for a blasting rocker that never arrives. I also like how he switches to the ride cymbal during the last line of each verse, gives it a nice sense of movement and lift.

I think the riff does run through the song...it just doesn’t stand outmikejasond wrote:I can't get over how the prediction cover had a better riff...by just taking the riff Pearl Jam already used at the end and putting it through the whole song. I wish they had actually done that <_<

Re: Superblood Wolfmoon
I think this song would be improved by going into the solo right away instead of "She was a stunner and I was stunned" part .That whole minute is so boring. The chorus isn't good enough to repeat four times. I'd just make it shorter.
