Once you get past the initial 'WTF did I just hear? Is that a Pearl Jam song?' You will get to appreciate the fact that this is really one of the best things they have ever done. Or you won't because you just can't accept that they made this song.

I would like to take this opportunity to say that I accept Pearl Jam have made this song but I still don't like it so much right now.

Actually, there have been a lot of reactions which bear this out. People just can't seem to accept that Pearl Jam would make such a song and they hate it because they did. Not everyone falls into this category. There are those who just won't like this song because they don't like it, as with any song ever made in the history of the universe.

Check the polls, though. You know you're outnumbered.

Im not sure why i need a poll to tell me what its okay to like. It may seem strange but I like what I like because I find it appealing to me in some manner. As do most of the regular posters around here

Neither do I. I remember reading one post on here which said that this song is probably how most people who don't listen to Pearl Jam imagine the band would sound like and I agree. I think it seems like an natural progression from Backspacer and the Pink Floyd cover they were doing last year.

Agreed (and that's an excellent, and accurate, point about the perception of the band among non-fans).

It sounds nothing like they've ever done before. I don't get any of the comparisons with their own songs. Covers are irrelevant because they didn't make those songs.

Nowhere did I imply that polls should tell you what you should or shouldn't like. Polls just tell you you're in the minority.

And many of the posters around here did an about face once they got around to accepting that indeed Pearl Jam did this. That's the point I was making originally anyway.
